re: The Poly. Is faxing your room requests a big no-no now? or a big yes-yes :D

I know people have said try to limit your requests. If we ask for 3rd floor non-smoking near the TTC do you think that'd be okay, not too much?

I think it`s a bit hit and miss Paula.

We faxed our request to the GF from the Disney Magic last year, thinking it would "carry more weight" coming from DCL.

However when we arrived at the GF they did not have a note of it on the computer. Fortunately, I actually recognised one of the CM`s at the check in desk who also remembered my face from a previous visit and so I got things sorted without any problem.

Since your particular request is not too demanding, you should be ok.

Not to highjack your thread, Paula, but...

Does anyone have the fax number for Pop Century?

WDW used to publish it on the home page for each resort, but I didn't see it the last time I was on there.

Do you get the feeling they're trying to discourage faxes?

According to the info on the resort pages on this site Taja, the fax no is [407] 938 4040.

I know some resorts said they wouldn't accept faxes, but I couldn't remember which ones.

The only one I'm aware of that no longer accepts faxed reequests is WL. But I heard they were all going that route eventually.

From what I've heard - only resorts that have conceirge are still accepting faxed requests. I read a pretty informative thread from a CM on another message board that I read (who works for PC ) and said that the overwhelming amount of faxes they get everyday just cannot be kept up with or something to that affect - because they have to hand match them with the ressies. -- although I would think they have to read them anyway to determine if they conceirge or not - but then maybe that's why only the resorts that have conceirge are bothering to weed through them?! But anyway, this CM had said that your best bet at getting your requests filled is to put them in with CRO when you book (or have your TA do that if using one) and then reiterate your requests to the CM checking you in when you arrive. All requests are right there on the computer screen in front of them when they check you in (even though they may not be noted on your confirmation letter) as long as you have made them to begin with when you book.

Anyway, HTH's:wave:

as late as May, faxes at POFQ were being looked at :) I got 2 of 3 requests and the CM at check in apologized for not being able to get us the king bed

Same thing in May with All Star Movies...we got 3 of 3 and several little "extras"...however, I had the same requests noted when I booked as well, so who knows which one they actually read...

What scoootch says does make sense...

yeah, who knows for sure?? I'd think that if they have the requests on the screen in front of them when you check in then the faxes don't really need to be done. Plus if you're re-requesting right in front of them I'd think they'd try and accommodate you.

That being said, I've seen many a time where what one CM says is fact yet another says is fiction soooo.....go with which ever way you choose and hope that the pixie dust falls upon you lol:) Personnally, what this CM had said in that thread kind of made sense to me so I'm not going to bother faxing but then if you feel like faxing, I guess it can't hurt.

Mickeymac has put our requests in with CRO, as I've heard they are starting to ignore faxed requests now.
Make sure the most important requests are noted with CRO, yourself or through your TA. Then re-request when you check-in
Not decided yet if I'm going to bother faxing POFQ as well

Phoned CRO and added our requests to our booking, the lady was very helpful  She also said she was pretty sure all rooms at The Poly now had fridges but requested one for us anyway :woohoo: Can't wait now!! :excited:

I think it makes sense to request them at every possible opportunity ;-)

...but in my experience, they are still reading fax requests even WL.

I said the same in another post but I faxed both POR and WL in June this year.. por 4 days before getting there and WL at the same time (so... 11 days before we were due to checkin at the WL).

I was kinda suprised when at checkin, they both read back my requests and said no problem.. and one of them said hehe you look surprised? didnt you request this stuff? ;-) I said sure but I heard you weren't accepting faxes any more. Sure we are! she said....

I think a nicely worded, request rather than demand goes a long way and ok, they still may not be able to grant them all, but from my experience they try.

I faxed but when I asked they said it had not been received. Ah well. I then asked for my request (pretty simple, anywhere but ground floor) and the CM organised it for me (as I'd been allocated a ground floor room).

Can you email the resorts or do you have to send a fax? If you can email them, would you still reccomend faxing instead?

And how do you find out the fax number of the resort you're going to? (i'm staying in POFQ next May, so its a long way off before I send a fax yet, but it never hurts to be organised! :D )

Thanks peeps
