We are planning a trip in October and through the help of AAA, have narrowed our choices to a kidsuite at these 3. Has anyone stayed at either one, and if so what were your opinions?

Hi There
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in 2002 and found it to be an average hotel. We got a good deal when we booked so found it good value for money but certainly not luxurious. We have stayed in kidsuites at the Holiday Inn Family Suites near the entrance of Walt Disney World and these suites were of a far higher standard although this was reflected in the price. These suites however are in the process of transforming into Nickleodeon Family Suites so I cant comment on what like it is now. I would suggest checking out more details and feedback about Nikki Bird and Main Gate East before making a final decision. :)

We are not looking for a luxury hotel, however I really don't want to end up at a dump either! I was planning on booking at the Nikki Bird, but I heard from someone that it was becoming a bit rundown. Yet, other people said it was pretty nice. Any other comments on either 3 would be great! The family suites looked great, but I'm really trying to keep the total hotel cost for 7 nights under $1000.

With that kind of budget, you have alot available to you....have you checked Hotel Kingdom? Also,do you know anyone with a time share? They can buy extra weeks for anyone.Interval calls them Getaways,I dont know what RCI calls them. You can get 2 & 3 bedrooms for under the price of a Days Inn.Have you looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor for the options you are considering now?

Thanks! I found it a day or two ago, and it has been helpful. After reading some of the comments, I don't think I want to stay at any of them! I'm now looking into the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. Thanks again!

We also stayed at HI Sunspree in Feb 2003. I was in a panic before we left because I read some really bad reviews. However, we had absolutely no problems. Our room was cleaned every day and the staff were very nice. The kids loved the pool. The restaurant was average.

We just returned today from staying at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird and we absolutely loved it! We were there for 10 days-checked out on December 13th and it was fantastic! Yes, the hotel is older looking on the outside as it is an older two story but the inside is being updated again-it was last done in 1996, I think. While we were there they were putting in new carpets-we were the first to stay in the room we had--it was newly and nicely decorated, beds were comfortable, we had 2 double beds plus a double sofa bed for $65 a night. The pool areas were gorgeous, the breakfast buffet was a real deal and it was a great price! Kids under 12 eat free-the one morning my husband, 16 year old and 6 year old went for breakfast-the bill was $2.99-my husband pointed out there was a mistake, the cashier said that if the bill said $2.99 then that's what is to be paid--he said they were so friendly!
We demand clean and safe hotels and this one met all of our expectations--the kids loved the play ground and spent every night after a long day sight seeing in the heated pools. You will not find a closer hotel to the parks without staying onsite. There is a set of lights as soon as you go to leave the hotel parking lot, turn right drive one mile and you are on Disney property! At the longest amount of time it took us no more than 10-15 minutes to be at the park and enjoying our day instead of being stuck in traffic! I took some pictures which I will try to email you if you are interested. We never judge a hotel but its outside as some of the ones which are all glitz and glam on the outside are horrid. Just thought I would give you an update from someone who just returned from a trip there.

We did go the the Nicki Bird for a Virgin Welcome meeting (what a waste of space ) anyway the hotel looked clean and welcoming and very child friendly. Some of the hotel rooms were right on the path, i wouldnt like it but some people might not mind. A friend of mine has just returned from La Quinta with Vrigin and got transfered after 3 days and 2 rooms as it was awful and the rooms had a very bad damp smell so sometimes its just a chance we take.

We stayed at Nikki Bird three years ago and really enjoyed it. The hotel is a bit older but it was just fine for all we used it for (sleeping)! What we really enjoyed was the restaurant. The buffet was great for breakfast. You could fill up in the morning and not have to spend a lot of money on lunch at the parks. My husband enjoyed the all-you-can-eat lobster night! We are going back next summer but are not staying there as the rates were around $100 (last time we spent $60 including breakfast). Not worth the $100, but definitely worth $60. We decided to rent a condo next summer for $75/night. Hope it works out!
