I keep being told to ask for the turndown service at the deluxe resorts.. Sounds kinda nice actually but does anyone know if it costs extra?

No, it doesn't cost extra but many people do like to tip the mousekeepers all the same;) It really is a nice service, we had it at a stay at the GF. The mousekeeper had the beds all turned down when we came in from the parks at night with a nice chocholate on the pillows and had the T.V. turned on and tuned to the Disney bedtime stories channel for our kids.
Enjoy! :)

i like the turndown service, it makes it feel all snug and cozy and 'looked after' which we all like sometimes :D
the best was in the Portofino Bay (Universal) they dimmed the lights put soft music on and left a gift and poem every night.

oh wow how great is that!!
Well I'll try asking for it then and see what happens. Apparently they're great at the gf but it's hit and miss elsewhere

We had it at YC, but we were on concierge level that trip (a rare treat!). Didn't know they did it for regular rooms! :)

How do you tip the Mousekeepers that do the turndown service?

Lots of people leave an envelope marked "for our mousekeeper" and just leave it on the bed or someplace where you know they'll be sure to see it.

Just ask them and leave a tip in an envelope. It is a real treat when returning from the parks, with the lights on, a chololates left and sheet turned down. It is also good if you have returned to the hotel to get changed and go out for an evening meal, nice to return to a shower room that has been cleaned and fresh towels left.
