I was wondering if anyone has stayed here before, and if so what they thought about the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios. I also see they offer an "entertainment book" discount if available. I was thinking of purchasing the book and getting the discount but was unsure how to use it. Is there a coupon in the book you present at check in or how does that work? Thank you!

I know that Johnie stayed here a while back and liked it, i think the best thing about the universal hotels is the unlimited front of line access :D

I haven't been to the Polynesian, but I have stayed at the Hard Rock. It's a beautiful hotel and an easy, quick walk to both IOA and Universal Studios. Going to the front of the line using your hotel "key" is a great perk! :)

The Entertainment Book will have a card with it. You'll have to call and activate the card to use it as a hotel discount.

At least that's the way it worked the last time I had one of those books.

We've stayed at both the Portofino Bay and the Royal Pacific. I found both Universal hotels to be wonderful. Although the Royal Pacific is the lower priced Universal hotel, it is quite beautiful. The rooms were nice, similar in size to the ALK at Disney. VEry nice furnishings and we were on the 7th floor with a view of IOA. It was entertainment in itself, watching the coasters from the window.

The pool was very nice and the staff exceptional. Although it doesn't have a slide, I actually liked the Royal Pacific Pool better than the Portofino Bay.

I found both hotels to not feel as big as the disney hotels. They seem more compact. I also felt the customer service was excellent, the rooms meticulously clean and the Loew's welcome gifts a nice touch.

I had an entertainment rate at the Portofino-I think around $170./night. We were given a free upgrade to a deluxe and my daughter was offerred a choice of several rooms so she could pick her view and whether or not she wanted a balcony. We arrived on my duaghter's birthday and they send her a card and a gift-three of the hugest, most delicious cookies and a pitcher of milk.:)

At the Royal Portofino I asked about where you could by the hand cream as my daughter loved it. The desk clerk wasn't sure but sent house keeping up with a large zip lock bag full.:)

Being able to by pass lines with your room card is the best perk, but I'd stay at either of these hotels even without a trip to the parks. My daughter wants to stay at Universal and go to Disney.

Let me know if you have more specific questions.
