Great money saving tips. We shall be going to Disney for the first time in January with our 4 children (its my 40th birthday present) so we need all the money saving tips we can get. Please could you tell me where the Dollar Stores are located in WDW.

Thank you.

There are no dollar stores in WDW. You'll have to go off property to find one.

Thanks for the reply.

Where off property could I find dollar store, are they in the Malls?

Where do you do most of your shopping?

Thanks

Dollar stores are not in the conventional malls, rather scattered in "strip malls" throughout the area.

Shopping for what? :) For food? Publix, The Fresh Market, Whole Foods.

Clothes. I don't if I can help it! Can't tell you the last time I bought clothes!

You know. I'm not much of a shopper, so I'm just going to quit while I'm ahead (am I?) and let someone with more knowledge of the subject give you some advice.

I can tell you though that there are several outlet malls as well as retail malls in the general vicinity of Disney. Oh. And the ever present Super Walmarts. :D

I saw a Dollar Store (or $0.99 store) near the Florida Mall. It's across the parking lot from Target, near JoAnn's. Don't ask the street names--I found Target by accident!

There are several more keys to saving money to add to my last post "7 Keys To Saving Money At WDW".
You'll find a few more of them at the end of this post. But first We're excited to know that Disney is undergoing major attraction updates.

The Happiest Celebration On Earth Is A Must See
Disney is launching an 18-month long Happiest Celebration on Earth starting May 5th. The celebration will focus on California's original Disneyland and honor its 50th anniversary.

While all of the Disney parks will be joining the festivities, Florida's Walt Disney World will ring in the new theme park season with a slew of new attractions to mark the occasion. The new attractions are highlighted at...
[link removed by admin. We have that info on our site]

And now more money saving ideas.
1. If arriving by van with small children bring a stroller or two. You'll have a lot of walking to do. If flying in rent a stroller at each theme park

2. If you plan to take in two or more parks a day begin the day early and get Length of Stay Passes or Park Hopper passes to hop to multiple parks on the same day.

3. To keep the kids from having to stop every time you pass a snack stand give each of them a back pack full of their FAVORITE healthy low sugar snacks and flavored water. Sweet drinks make kids a bit tipsy, unless you like traveling with the TAZ (Tasmanian Devil), so try flavored spring water instead.

If any are planning to share in the celebration drop us a line. The time line on the Disney site is very informative. By the way, I'm looking for a desk size bronze statue of Walt and Mickey hand in hand. Anyone?

This is a first for me to post to any group but I have to ask. Where can I rent or buy the dvd mentioned in point 2 of the 7 money saving tips. I have 6 six kids most of which are teenagers that have never been to disney world. I would like as much preplanning info for them as possible and a dvd showing more than the Disney resort planning video would be great. I am afraid if they don't know and search out all that would be of interest to them they will stay the whole trip right beside Myself and my wife. don't get me wrong I love my kids and we will do somethings together but leading a group of 9 people for 4 days through disneyworld would kill me. boys and girls have very different tastes. any video planning would spark their curiosity and adventure.

Thanks

Your local library will likely carry a vhs or dvd on the subject.
travelvideostore.com carries the DVD and VHS version

dvd - Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Kit (2004) $24.95

vhs - Disney World Vacation Planner VHS Where Magic Lives
Vacation Planning Video This is a vacation planning video for Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida.

There's no need to pay $24.95 :nono:
Just go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/vpkEntryPage?id=VPKEntryPage for a free copy.
or
http://www.disney.co.uk/usa-resorts/waltdisneyworld/vpv/vpkpage.jsp?pid=1858 if you're in the UK.
That will save you money.
