Well, the "cold" weather has arrived in Orlando...
We woke up to 70 degrees, warmed up to 77 and it's now back down to 70 with the cold front.
The entire weekend is going to be great, lows in the mid-40s and highs in the mid-60s.

60's and 70's sound great to me. It is actually warm here for this time of year we are usually in the teens for highs but our highs have been in the 30's and 40's. Hubby is complaining because there is not enough ice on the lakes to go ice fishing. Crazy man!
BevW
December 10th, 2004, 22:11
Not enough ice :lmao: I'll go look in my freezer for ice! The last time I saw it snow was when we lived in Waco (Gads, I hated that town) and it snowed and the streets iced over and there were so many accidents cos people just didn't know how to drive!
That was SO many years ago...my youngest was 3! She's 23 now...oh wow..20 years ago. Man...I wish it would snow again...

I know it sounds crazy doesn't it? But around here it is what gets the men and the women through the winter. The guys go sit in their heated ice shacks on the lake and the women are happy that the men are not home! :rotfl:

It's December 10th. It's 10:22 p.m. I've just returned home from having my dinner outdoors. I wore shorts, t-shirt and Tevas. The cold front is supposed to be headed this way, but it's definitely not here yet.

Apart from the jet stream dropping down and paying a visit to us just before I left for WDW (and several days while I was away), we're having a pretty mild winter. It was a bit nippy my first day back, but has warmed up into the mid-seventies during the day and low 50s at night.
By next weekend, temperatures are expected to drop back into the low 60s (high) with rain. We need the rain, so I can't complain too much--except for the weeds. Weeding is a year-round activity here!
It's winter in the Sonoran desert! :)

Cold but very nice. Just came back from spending the day at the Studios. Had lunch at the Brown Derby.
We only have this weather for 4 ot 6 weeks out of the year so I like to enjoy it. Just had on a linen shirt, no jacket... 55 degrees with a light breeze felt so good :D . After dropping Mrs. SM at the house, had to go back out and drive with the windows down and the sunroof open... great day today
OKWTink
December 12th, 2004, 12:46
It surely felt like less than 55 to me! LOL! I was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a pareo (as a head scarf). I wasn't uncomfortable, but did get chilled through when sitting on the boardwalk. The sun had gone down though.
I DON'T like the drop in temps and find 6 weeks far too long to deal with it! LOL!
I'm cold this morning!

I am debating on whether to put shorts on..it's HOT today folks. But Rick says that there's cooooooold weather coming in tonight. I asked how long it was supposed to stick around this time? 2 days, 3? He says maybe a WHOLE WEEK!! oooohhh be still my heart.

The forecast for later in the week is to have a high of fifties! Overnight lows are forecast to drop into the thirties. This is SO not good. :( I really dislike the cold. It hurts. :(
It's not supposed to last long, though. Maybe you'll get some swimming in after all, Phil.

December 13th, 2004, 13:46
It's 4C here today. Don't know what that is in F but it's cold enough to freeze the water on the pond.
I had to put a coat on.
OKWTink
December 13th, 2004, 13:49
I should hope so, Missy! There'll be no running about in shirt sleeves in that sort of weather! You put an undershirt on too, yes? It's required wearing, once the temp drops. At least that's what Mama always said.
Phil
December 13th, 2004, 13:51
well we have a high of 39 degrees today - so still warmer than here! As long as it warms up again by the weekend - first cpl of days staying in a hotel, so wont go swimming until we get to our villa on Saturday.
OKWTink
December 13th, 2004, 13:52
Saturday may be ok for you. The lows are forecast to happen sometime around Wednesday and Thursday.
But, you know how weather is! :D Never really know what you are going to get until you got it!

Undershirt? :rotfl:
We don't have such namby pamby clothing in this neck of the woods. That's just for you softies who don't go swimming in temps below 90. :laughat:
I have a Mickey mouse sweater on. And I put a coat on to go outside. Steven has a woolly hat and mittens too though.

Undershirts were a required clothing item when I lived in the north east. Just a little colder than Florida in the winter months. :D
Actually, the coldest I remember ever as a kid was forty five degrees below zero. Not nice. Not nice at all.

I can't believe you consider a tempreture of 60 or 70 cold!! In the UK today its 6 or 7!!

It all depends on what you are used to.
Dawn, 46 degrees F in Michigan is swimming weather! They get some really cold temps there, as you experienced!
But I'd still need a coat in 46 degrees F. And a hat. A scarf too. Gloves. Oh and something other than socks with my sandals for my feet. Boots probably.

The weather here in Cornwall today is damp/drizzle and the outside temp according to my car is 46 degrees Fahrenheit.
I have just played football/Soccer in shorts and a shirt and didn't feel cold at all, in fact it just feels fresh.
If it was in the 70's then people round here would think it was a heatwave in mid August!

In Jan 2000, we visited, havnig been previously in October time. We were totally unprepared for the cold snap that hit the ESB and forced the temperatures down in Orlando for 10 days of the 14 we were in town.
On 1 day, according to the Weather Channel, it was warmer in the UK than in Orlando (at equivalent times) - they quoted 11am.
Glad to say we got back to UK this year mid November having experienced really high temperatures for the time of year.
No cold days at all.
