Well after a lot of thinking and playing around, i've put together a dvd with all the effects, of one of my holiday tapes and its come out superbly well crystal clear, thanks to keith letting me know that the problem should lie in not having a firewire card, usb2 not upto the job.

thanks keith for the input  :noworthy:

so i now have loads to do as im gonna be putting all me home movies onto this media, from right back to when the kids were babies, and its not a quick process rendering and converting movies and then burning to a dvd, so wish me luck, im obvously gonna be doing this years holiday first :D

ukwdwnut,
I wish you luck! That is what I was doing last year (they were Christmas pressies) and I haven't done a bit of it since--partly because it is so time consuming (and the hard disk space is very consuming).

I was hoping that Easy DVD creator 7 would be an improvement on the time it takes to capture and edit. Have you been using that, yet?

hi DC

sorry to hear your old 8mm stuff was so uselessly converted :( :sigh: by what seems to be a rubbish company

have you been using it, and did it make a difference in the time it takes?

E CD 7: not yet i have a copy, but i've been using ulead video studio 8, i got version 5 with the fw card yesterday  also been using image mixer(got that with the camera), that converts it into quicktime like jo uses to put her vids onto the site, that works fine now to, so all that do any sort of video editing have a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG harddrive and a firewire card, no need to get the 800 variety as the camcorders only use 400 at the moment anyway

YAYAYAYAYAYAY glad it's working nutty!

arise SIR KEITH :noworthy: :noworthy: :noworthy:
looks like a promotion in the ranks for the MAIN MAN of all things photographic

ukwdwnut,
Have you had any trouble with the finished DVD playing on most DVD players?

Hiya DC

yes i have had some trouble actually, i just cant get anything to play on this new recorder it comes up with an unsuppoerted error, as if its not been finalised. im gonna try some different software i'll let you know. i even got my dvd burner changed to an nec one still no difference :D

i can copy from my camera to the dvd recorders hdd, then burn to dvd no problem, but i want to add some effects to blend the scenes together and perhap a music track or something, i'll not give up tho :D

DC

i have it sorted now, what i needed to do was instead of creating a disc after all editing is done, i needed to create a file then burn it to dvd with easy cd, and bingo, by jove i think i have :D it worked 1st time on the new recorder :woohoo: just finished editing the next few tapes and its just rendering as we speak so then i can copy onto dvd in a while, i'll keep you posted DC :D

i have completed the 04 trip video DC and they all work fine now. so after creating the video to your taste create a video file instead of burning to dvd straight from the software, if you have been having problems

This is something we need to get on with I guess....we watched our holiday movie directly from the camcorder to tv over the weekend....we were really happy with the quality of the movie....right,,,the problem we have is that we've got the software that came with the camcorder,,,but we do not have a dvd writer on our PC, we do have a seperate DVD Recorder Machine....we really like a our camcorder but still can't work out on how to take pictures with it....read the manual 10x!!!.....it's a Sony HC95e (i think)...how can we get the special effects recorded on the movie without a DVD Writer on our PC??

mermaid

you have to have some video editing software to add special effects to your video, i have ulead video studio 8, pinnacle do one that i hear is good, once it is copied to your pc, a 16x dual layer dvd writer is around like this one (NEC ND3540 16x Dual Layer for £41 they are simple to fit only takes around 5-10mins. i have a dvd recorder with a hard drive that i can hook up my cammy to and copy the film straight to the hdd tyhen burn to a dvd, but doing it that way you have no way of editing the footage and adding special effects. good luck :D

with regards to taking stills on the cammy you will need to have the memory stick in it and when you switch it on switch it to the memory option i guess on the side where you also might have the tape anf play/edit function lamps, well thats how i take stills on my sony hc40

hope that helps in any way :D

Okay basically for special effects we need a dvd writer on our PC....or we can copy straight onto our dvd recorder hdd if we do not need to edit.

That's what I thought we did....but when we went back to check there was nothing and even when I took to our local store, I was told that the memory stick was empty...hmm will have to have another go.....

in actual fact mermaid you can edit on a home dvd recorder, you just do a partial erase to edit stuff you dont want to put on a dvd, but you cannot add special effects :(

have another read of the manual in taking stills for the cammy is there a button on the top to take the stills with? mine is right next to the viewfinder a little chrome button :D
