Oops, missed the what is it question?
It's a yeast extract spread that's very dark brown, and very thick in consistency. Similar to Vegemite which is popular in Australia. Has a very strong flavour and is the best thing ever to spread on your toast. Good source of B vitamins too.

Sounds like it would be good on crackers ! Yep, that works well!
A bit of butter and some marmite on a cracker is good... several more is even better.
I find that it can be one of those snacks that you find yourself going back for 'just one more...' (others may disagree http://www.wdisneyw.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

How about this? Found this after doing a google search on the subject:
It has drug-like qualities; the more you eat, the thicker you need to spread it to get the
same mouth-burning effect. Some people have even called it addictive
I wasn't sure what it was. I was questioning other earlier and curiosity got the best of me. I thought you might have to hunt for marmite in a dank swamp or dark forest. "COME OUT OF THAT MARMITE HOLE......you...ah...MARMITE! So I guess after researching the net..no, I am not going to be a fan of the stuff. Hey, I guess that is good for you marmite luvas! Supply and demand thing. Who knows may bring the price down to oh,,say $19.99 a pound. Well all this talk about "food" has gotten me quite hungry..but not for indigestable marmite..yuck,, I want some good ol' American, appealing and tasty SCRAPPLE!

Hello Mum,
Well I just cut and pasted a quick response. It is a pork porri of bad things. Lots of pig left overs. It is usually fried like uncased sausage. It is a favorite of a particular city, Philadelphia.
Scrapple is one of those farm foods invented to use those parts of slaughtered food animals which were not suitable to be served on their own, in the same manner as sausages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sausages), or Jewish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews)kishkes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kishke). Scrapple typically contains the meaty parts of hog heads, hearts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart), some liver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liver), and other scraps. The proportion and spicing is very much a matter of the region, family, and the cook's taste.
Commercial scrapple will often contain these traditional ingredients, with a distinctive flavor to each brand, though homemade recipes often specify more genteel ingredients, and consequently a blander taste.
