When the parks are full and they are not allowing anyone else in, how do those who have reservations for meals get in?

You won't be able to get in...
Disney makes it clear that they do not make "Reservations", they have "Priority Seating", it's the guests responsibility to be inside the park to arrive at their PS before the gates close. If the guest is not there, the next PS is fulfilled...

Boy, I had never thought about that before. Imagine having the coveted Cinderella's Royal Table & not being able to get in. Oh that would be awful!
Hey lovalab, my lab's a year & a half & I'm just not loving her yet. When the heck is she going to calm down!! hahaha

There is one thing that may get in the way of that whole "too full to let anyone it" process, and that is if you've had to hold your PS with a credit card guarantee that will charge you ten dollars per person if you don't show up.
I've not ever had this problem, but I do wonder what WDW would do about it?
Does anyone know the policy for certain?

You better have lots of patience, because you have at least three more years before she starts to calm down a little. Just give her lots of exercise so she wears herself down a bit. Good luck, and you know you love her!

Sorry, I didn't mean a "reservation". But say you have dinner plans and you arrive at the park four hours early and it's full and remains that. Doesn't seem fair to loose priorty seating because you where unable to get into the park. :(

The MK was closed by 8:00 am Christmas Morning in 2000 or 1999, I don't remember which. So, it's entirely likely that you could miss a PS for breakfast on Christmas, anyway.

'Tink,
We were very nervous for our reservations on NYE 2002 (lunch at Brown Derby and Dinner at Moroco on NYE 2002) because we were told that if park reached capacity, we would not be let in even though we had the cc guarantee which couldn't be changed or cancelled within 48 hours... We were told the part about possibly not being let in when we checked in at the Beach Club and it was within 24 hours of our NYE reservations, so there was nothing we could do except worry about it.
It turned out to have rain in the forecast and it did rain cats and dogs about 7pm, so we didn't have any trouble getting in... but, I do think they should warn guests when they are making the reservations about the policy...

Thanks, DC! That's what I thought, that if you had a CC guaranteed PS, you still wouldn't be let in and be stuck with the charges. I would certainly protest, but that would end up being another thing I'd have to do that I didn't want to.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Guests should be fully apprised of the policy.

Thats a shame that something so simple as getting in to eat a meal has to be complicated in this manner. Thanks for the replies.
