Does anyone have any special powers that could give me some insight into whether the exhange rate is going to go to £1 to $2,
or maybe just someone who has read somewhere it might ?
we have to change our money up soonish and am wondering is sooner better than later any light anyone can shed would be most appreciative

If you find someone with those special powers could you ask them to give me Saturday's lottery numbers please:D

On a serious note, I did read somewhere that the dollar was expected to hit $2 - £1, but whether or not it happens is a different story. We are keeping a close eye and if it goes above $1.87 - £1.00 we are going to buy.

The Daily Express financial page two days ago said the dollar could possibly weaken further in the coming months. I would wait a bit longer and see but keep a careful eye out in case the experts are wrong and it starts to go the wrong way.

We actually exchanged as much money as we could yesterday - and we're not going until August! I had been watching the rate rise for months, then it started to fall just before Christmas. I told myself that if it got as low as $1.80 I would go for it! (We got $1.81 yesterday). It's such a gamble isn't it? You never know when is the right time................

Watching the BBC financial news (yes, sometimes I watch such things :p ) and they said that the dollar is expected to bottom out by the end of the first quarter of the year.

Don't ask me what that means though, but it sounds good.

Hi

I think that the dollar is losing over the last week i would be keeping a big eye on the exchange rate
I can not see it hitting $2 to £1
however as above it is a gamble

Good luck on what you choose to do.

Having read an artical in "The Economist", I got the impression that the $ shall be weakening further for a while yet, and as mentioned above may even hit £1 = $2, however as also mentioned... exchange rates and the waiting game is a gamble. :ears:

Beat rate I have found with tourists rates are $1.8554 with www.onlinefx.co.uk (http://www.onlinefx.co.uk) they will also give you an even better rate if you buy by bank transfer which I did last year by paying by transfer I made an extra $282.00 but the rate then was between $1.76 and $1.81.

I will be buying some more from them in late March for our trip scheduled in June, so I am keeping a watchful eye on the rates:unsure:

Travelex are offering $1000 for £483.79! Good eh?

Dunno about commission fees etc.

I'm going in October, going to leave my money converting until as close to the date as possible, however if the conversion rate goes so much as a penny down to the dollar, Im buying straight away.

Can you please post a link to that offer ? It works out at $2.06/£1. The best I can find online is $1.869/£1.

thanks

That's the buyback rate TR. For every $1000 you give them back, they give you £483. They are selling at $1.869 so to buy $1000 would cost you £535 . :)
