Is there a lot to do here? Is it somewhere you go later in the evening or in the afternoon? Never spent anytime here so know little about it. What do you all think of it??? Worth a visit?

Yes, it is worth an evening visit. Once the sun goes down, the boardwalk comes alive.

There are live acts, midway style games, little shops, a sweets shop, a bakery, several restaurants, and two clubs, one of which charges a cover to enter (both are limited to 21 and older). There are surrey bikes to rent also.

The walkway will take you around the lagoon through the circle of resorts, lead you to the other walkway to MGM Studios and lead you tothe International Gateway of EPCOT.

There is the ferry to take to those parks as well as the resorts encircling the lagoon (should you care not to walk).

The Boardwalk Inn (the hotel proper) does not have a restaurant, but there is a nice (albeit quite expensive) lounge, the Bellevue, upstairs on the second floor.

There are public restrooms near the pool, and at Spoodle's (you can reach them by going through the sweet shop when the restaurant is closed).

All in all it is a nice place to visit for a couple of evening hours.

Oh! You can see the fireworks from EPCOT and sometimes MK, from the boardwalk!

I love the Boardwalk area! Unlike most people though I think I do the opposite. I visit during the early morning or afternoon. It's never, ever crowded during these times which is such a nice break if you've experienced an overabundance of people the day before. There is a nice bakery on the boardwalk that sells everything from pastries to omelets & such. It can be crowded in the mornings due to BW & BWV people coming for breakfast since there is no food court there. BUt it is worth a try in my opinion. We've rented the surrey bike once, not sure I'll be doing that again any time soon but for someone more in shape I'm sure it's fun :bikestone There is a really nice upscale artsy store there & for some reason the name escapes me but they have beautiful ocean life themed items. You'll want to hold any kiddies hands in this place. I love to go inside the BW just to check it out, it's so pretty!
But I have never been there at night. I imagine there is a whole lot more to do & one of these days we will try it out :dance3:

Oh yes! Wyland Gallery. It is a beautiful place!

You are so right, Big Thunder. The boardwalk is an entirely different place by day. Peaceful and very serene. The live acts aren't there and I don't think the midway style games are "open" but I could be wrong. I don't pay much attention to them.

Wyland Gallery, that's it. I had it on the tip of my tongue!

I think rarely, maybe only once have the midway games been open when we were there & I think that might have been on a Friday or Saturday day. I try to avoid them if at all possible but with two kids it's really hard to get past. Another reason I like the day

Another vote for the Boardwalk during the evening. There seems to be more of an atmosphere at night compared with during the day although on the downside, it can get a bit crowded IMHO.
We always make a point of dining at the Flying Fish on one evening every time we go. This is normally followed by a leasurely stroll around the place soaking up the atmosphere and taking in a reasonable view of Illuminations.
We usually finish off by browsing in the Wyland Gallery, where I "threw caution to the wind" a couple of years ago and actually bought an item there!

I reckon that the Boardwalk is one of the "must see" areas of WDW.

I absolutely adore the "turtle" table in there. I go in often just to stand and gaze at it.

Should I ever win the lottery... :D (Guess I'd need to purchase a ticket first)! LOL!
