The last couple of times we went to Orlando the kids were younger and we didn't really bother going out at night. This year we thought it would be nice to have a family night out. Any suggestions? There will be 4 adults, 2 boys 13 and 2 girls nine. We don't really want to do the themed dinner shows. All the kids love music so something with a band would be nice. We have never been to the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney:blush: always assumed it was more for adults. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Strolling DTD is always fun. It seems a long way, but it really is a nice easy walk from the Marketplace to the West Side.
After 7pm you can walk through PI without charge until 9pm. There is often a live band (Frankie and the West End Boys are frequently the one) at the West End stage. During these hours it's not too rowdy, and many families are seen.
Once the clubs start up and the alcohol starts flowing, families with young children (under 18) are well advised to leave. Not that it is a bad place by any means, but it is definitely an adult atmosphere.
The boardwalk in the evening has live acts, but they are of short duration. 20-30 minutes or so. There are a number of them though, and they reappear throughout the evening. Some are music based, but not bands by any means. Think banjo player, sax players, piano player, and once in a rare while the great Dixie Land jazz trio.
There are midway style games there, and surrey bikes to rent. It really is a neat place to spend a few evening hours.
Old Town, off property (192 east, from WDW) is another option. Of a weekend they have wicked cool old cars (provided you are an old car junkie such as myself! :D ) and there are rides there, shops and restaurants. It's a bit gaudy, but not a bad place for all that.
The "town" of Celebration's downtown area is nice for a stroll. Unless there is something actually going on though, it's pretty dull. There are shops and restaurants, and a nice hotel to browse through.
