What is your favourite restaurant at Downtown Disney (or close to it - walking distance). We've booked at the Grosvenor. I heard at work today there is a Tony Roma's around there - is it far?

Where would you go to eat as 1st choice and why? What are the costs approximately also? :p

Tony Romas is a good 15 minute walk. Its just past the crossroads. We ate there this trip and it was okay, nothing special.

We booked Portobello Yacht Club at DTD this time but I was ill and had to cancel so I could nap before the Adventurers Club :D It looked really nice though and we'll definitely go this October instead. :)

You know, there are several that I really like, all for different reasons.

Overall, at DTD, Puck's Cafe is a good value with a menu selection that stands a good chance of pleasing a wide range of tastes.

I really like Bongo's when I am looking for seriously good Cuban food (read carb festival!).

Off property, the Ale House is a great sports bar atmosphere with HUGE portions of fairly good food! A pretty good selection, and all the televisions you'll want. They have an extremely wide selection of beer on tap (and a full bar) too.

Joe's Crab House is wicked tacky, gaudy fun. Go there for messy seafood. :D

There are many other places at the Crossroads Plaza and just beyond too. All within walking distance, but once you start moving away from the crossroads (in either direction) you are honestly taking your life in your hands as a pedestrian.

The area from DTD to Crossroads is set up for walking (pavement/sidewalks) but not beyond.

Hope that helps a bit!

I love Joe's Crab Shack. They dance too and encourage you to join them :D They have yummy coconut shrimp.

In DTD, I'd go with Earl of Sandwich. Sandwiches are $4.95, a good size and yummy. You can also get a decent tomato soup for 95 cents. Best deal on Disney property.

We've eaten at Tony Roma's on I Drive and loved it. it was the nicest meal we had cause i love the sauce they use on the ribs. food-wise the one near Downtown isnt any different from the others is it?

A restaurant where you can hang out at the bar afterwards and spend the evening might be nice, are they all like that at downtown generally?

I like entertainment - especially live entertainment but hate being put on the spot and forced to join in. It makes me cringe!!

Every time we make our pilgrimage to the Orlando area, a must stop is the Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney Marketplace, adjacent to the Art of Disney Store. The Pulled B-B-Que Chicken sandwich is to die for. Do I sound overly dramatic? I can't stress enough how nice the cafe is. Between the sandwich with Garlic Mashed potato's, to the personal pizzas for the kids, there is something for everyone.

5 stars

To clarify, the restaurant adjacent to the Art of Disney store is Puck's Express.

Wolfgang Puck's Cafe is on the West Side, where the building also houses an Express, as well as the Cafe, a Sushi Bar and upstairs, his gourmet restaurant.

Thanks for the clarification OKWTink. When I get close to the restaurant, my eyes sway from the name to the wonderful food selections.

I guess my wife and I are in the minority here (as always) but, we really enjoy Cap'n Jack's in the Marketplace. We have been to this restaurant twice on each of our last three visits to WDW (6 times total) and, have always had good service and tasty food. If you like a good frozen adult beverage, the strawberry margarita's here are to die for. Go ahead take a chance, give it a try, you just may enjoy yourself!!! :D

I prefer Portobello Yacht Club. However, Bongos is also a good choice. Haven't done Wolfgang Puck's yet so must make a note to do so.

I've got to agree with the Wolfgang Puck cafe. I don't know if the Wolfgang Puck restaurant is still there but there were huge queues and poor service when I went last, the cafe offers the same quality in food (yum) with a lot less hastle, just be sure to get someone in your party to hold a table as they fill up pretty quick. Planet Hollywood is also good, if you don't mind eating early evening you can get better service and less queueing, we usually go on the first day when we are jet lagged and going to be in bed early so we want to eat early, 4.30 - 5.00 is a good time as extra staff come on then.
The Crossroads, (turn left when you come out of the Grosvenor and walk till you reach the main road then it is in the shopping area across the road) is also good and has a TGIs. Look out for coupons, they love them in the USA and you can save a few dollars or get freebies!
