Staying at The Grosvenor in DTD, where is the nearest Ale House, how long would it take to get there (assume we'd need a cab)?

Nope, you won't need a cab. You'll be able to walk, but be quite careful once you turn left at the Crossroads and make your way to the very next (very close) intersection of CR 535 and SR 535 and Palm Parkway. The strech from the Crossroads to the Alehouse is heavily driven and there is construction at the corner where the Alehouse is.
I do believe (but am not totally positive) that there are sidewalks along the left side of the road (the side you will be on).
At any rate, depending on your personal preference, you really don't need a cab.

I enjoy the Ale House. I go to the Hollywood Ale House, Coral Springs Ale House and Fort Lauderdale Ale House fairly often :)

Brandon Ale House - we used to eat there a lot when we were in Florida. Have a glass of sweet tea for me.

And they have the Guinness on tap at the Ale House near Disney too! ('Course it's not near the same). :(
