If you went to one of the VMCP nights in December I'd be interested to know about how crowded it was for you.

We went on our last night at WDW, which was Friday December 10th and it was packed! We'd gone to the MK during the day time after dropping our bags off at the Virgin check-in at Downtown Disney and had a pleasant afternoon with few lines at any of the rides (Splash Mountain was a walk-on virtually). As soon as the park closed we went to the Once Upon a Christmas show, then queued up for our photo and only managed to get on Stitch's Great Escape before waits at most attractions were 45 mins plus.

Apart from the fantastic parade we were bitterly disappointed by the crowds. We'd been saving Tomorrowland to do during the VMCP but gave up after the fireworks show.

I suspect that part of the problem was that it was a Friday, since I spotted a posting in trip reports saying rides were walk-ons for others.

Which would have been the best night to go?

Weekends are generally busier because locals will go :) I went twice and didn't have any waits for anything. One was a Sunday the other a Thursday

Karen,
Taja and I went to MVMCP on 5 Dec. My perspective is there were a lot of people, but we didn't have to wait very long for anything. I think part of it was because I was just following Taja's lead (because she knew what she was doing!) and we pretty much played everything by ear. If there was an opportunity to see a show--we watched it.
What worked out great was we started out in Tommorrowland at 4:30pm (I didn't know we would be allowed in so early). We went on attractions there as the crowds were thining out (Park closed at 6pm for regular folks). We saw a couple of shows in Tommorrowland before going over to Fantasyland and so on. I was surprised at how much we were able to do.

(I also went to MNSSHP on 31 Oct and it was very crowded and we only went on a few attractions the whole evening--it wasn't so much a wait to get on the rides, but it was the tide of people and trying to get from one place to the next).

We went on Tues Dec. 2 and it was wonderful. Not a wait for anything. We were able to walk right on to all the rides in fantasyland, the railroad, Pirates, Philharmagic, etc. I was very pleased at how much we got done. The most we had to wait was about 20 mins., and that was to have our photo done. I figured the weekends were going to be packed, so I intentionally chose an early weekday for it.

Ah yes, we went on Friday the 17, the last night for mvmcp, and it was insanely crowded. Although it started off somewhat quiet around 9pm the park seemed to be packed full. But to my surprise the lines for rides were not all too long, all about 30 min waits for each ride.

Went on December 2nd with a good contingent of UOG folks and on December 5th with DC, as she previously mentioned. Queues were short to non-existent both nights.

I did the 2nd, 5th & 7th.

The 5th was manic but the other 2 were pleasantly uncrowded. Walked on everything and the only line I saw was for Stitch, but I didn't want to go on that anyway. :D
