"As of Jan. 3, a new service for digital cameras is available to Guests visiting all four Theme Parks at the Walt Disney World® Resort. This new service will allow Disney Guests to download their images and other media from a digital media card to a CD. As a result, film processing services are no longer available across the Walt Disney World Resort complex.

Each of the camera centers at the four Theme Parks have been equipped with this new technology. Moreover, this technology will be deployed in the Disney Resort properties over the next few months "

So then, someone without a digital camera can no longer get their film developed on property?

Walgreen's is gonna' love that! :D

So, will this be a sort of "self serve" kiosk or will it be a service where you drop off your memory cards and then retrieve them at a later time?

Do you have a price list?

Yes, Tink, that is correct. No more film processing.

No, Johnie, I do not have a price list yet, but would love to get one when I go down in February, unless we can get our Roving Reporter Tink to grab one on one of her many flights.

Miracle, from what I am told, it is now a drop off service, however, I would not be surprised if they added self-service kiosks (perhaps at the resorts) through their massive affiliation with Kodak. Perhaps we could ask 'RR-Tink to take a flit by that as well? :D Tink? When's your next flight?

Well, I have the usual Friday stroll planned. :D

But then, the Jax boy and his Mama are coming this weekend and that may disrupt that idea. Hmmm...

We'll have to see, but when I do, I'll ask about a price list and locations for the service.

A couple of cms at the contemporary shop mentioned this in December... I was told they'd been trying both self service booths and drop off. Perhaps they've settled on drop off then. They were also going to get a lot of little yellow self service kodak "put your card in and print your own prints" kiosks around the place.

They've also extended the range of things you can get with your "photopass" card

Beginning in the Spring of 2005, guests will be able to create and purchase:

Disney’s PhotoMovie – a unique DVD which combines your Disney photos with clips of Walt Disney World, Disney Characters with Disney music.

Disney’s PhotoBook – a personalized coffee-table book made with your Disney photos resulting in a customized Disney keepsake

yeah that's what I thought! You can already print coffee table books of your own photos from loads of places, but the photo movie sounds brilliant and I bet it will get a load more people using the photopass! You never know, I might even lower myself to buy a few of those cheesy photos they're always pushing <G>

I used the "drop off service" this December...dropped them off at around 1:00 and they were ready by 5:00 that evening...cost was around $6/per cd. Was quite pleased with the service.

Yeah, I found it quite useful as I didn't have my laptop with me this trip. This was in MGM. I inquired into it at the resort as well, and they told me that if I dropped it off that night, it would be ready for pickup the next morning.

I *believe* the MK also had a self service kiosk, however it was "out of service" when we dropped by the Emporium...

$6 is not a bad deal for WDW.

I think we ended up with four of them and the cost was around $26 with tax and all....was quite pleased with the results.
