On our first WDW next May, we were looking at sampling a number of quality restaurants, with about 3-4 of them being at different resorts.
I really like the look of Bomas, so was definately going to choose that, but Jiko also looks very tempting. Since we only have time to fit 3 resort restaurants in (not including Boardwalk, DTD or any of the Theme Parks - we will be visiting these in addition), it seems potentially wasteful to take 2 of these up with trips to the AKL.
So, given food tastes/preferences and cost is not an issue here, which of the two restaurants would you reccomend as the best "overall" dining experience?
Or would you say that they are both essential visits?
We definately want to eat at Calafornian Grill in the Comtemporary, one (or both!) of the restaurants mentioned at the AKL, and then 1-2 more at other resorts.

Both Boma and Jiko are wonderful dining experiences, IMHO. Boma, remember, is "buffet" style, where Jiko isn't. Both offer marvelous dishes - and both have excellent wine selections.
On our last visit, Hubby and I dined at the Cooking Place in Jiko - which is a bar that overlooks where appetizers and flatbreads are made. We chose several different appetizers a piece, which we shared (except the octopus - I don't DO octopus), and we each had glasses of wine chosen to compliment the food. This was a fabulous experience and one that we will do again!

Many thanks for the info. We will be looking at doing one buffet during our stay - I need to decide on whether to do Boma at AKL and the Brown Derby Fantasmic package, or Jiko at AKL and the Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic package (i.e. one of the two buffets). I am leaning towards the buffet at AKL at the moment.....this may chance though :D

I'm a very picky eater. And although I was pretty darn sick when we went, I really enjoyed Boma. They have this REALLY yummy Potato Soup....

Boma has rotating menu items, so what one person has, another may not. For example, I love their Moroccan Fish Chowder, so I go on the night I know it will be there.
I far prefer Jiko to Boma though. Boma has really fallen off since it's opening.
I'd vote you do the Jiko-Hollywood and Vine combo! :D

The sharing of food with good friends makes all the difference, doesn't it?

We also liked Jiko's better than Boma's. Don't get me wrong, Boma's is a great restaurant. I just feel more rushed at buffets, and prefer at least once a trip to feel pampered, which we heartily felt at Jiko's. Tink recommended the vegetarian dish, so I had a couscous mixture that was just scrumptious. USCWest had recommended the kalamata flat bread, which I thought was going to really wig out my husband, and it turned out to be our favorite. The beef was so tender, he could cut it with a butter knife (and he did - we thought the waitress made a mistake when she brought it out!) and the wine selection, superb.
I too like your Jiko/HW&V combo.

For the total "pampered" dining experience, I, too, prefer Jiko's. Sit there and let them do everything but cut it up and put it in your mouth for you (for that treatment you need to go to 50's Prime Time...). But I love the way Boma "feels"! Looking up at those tall columns, smelling all the wonderful aromas!

JIko hands down. Boma has a fantastic breakfast buffet that we wouldn't miss, though.
