Just wanted to pass this along, especially for first timers.
When you go to do your laundry while staying on site, be sure you take your room key with you as this is how you will have access into the laundry room.
I didn't know this and had to turn around and go back to the room for the key.

Since I usually travel solo, I better have the room key with me!
Ahhhhh... Where is that room key? ;)

I will make sure that this info is passed on to my wife for future reference.

How would you get back into the room without a key anyway? Unless, of course you hold the family hostage there so they can open the door for you? I never leave the room for any reason without the key tucked in my pocket.
It's kind of like the car keys. I don't leave them behind in the car for any reason.

We did laundry during our stay at All-Star Sports and didn't need a room key, nor did we when we stayed in PO-FQ. Is this something new?

At the CBR a room key was needed to get in. At first I didn't think it was opened yet, so I went back to the room. But later noticed others getting in by using their room key. Maybe when checking in a person should ask if a key is needed.

The day we did laundry at PO-FQ was also the day we had a late lunch at Beaches and Cream. We were so full after the delicious burgers they server there that we decided to go back to the resort, relax, and do a bit of laundry.
We weren't the only ones doing laundry that day. Someone else had clothes in a dryer - including some tennis shoes. Every couple of minutes the dryer door would pop open and a tennis shoe would come flying out! I kept picking it up and putting it back in, closing the door and restarting the dryer - only to have the shoe tossed out a few minutes later.
Before we left, the "owner" of the shoe came in to get her laundry. She couldn't understand why much of it wasn't dry!!!!

We also did not need a key to get into the laundry room at the GF in December.

All of the laundry rooms have key access. Some are unlocked during specified hours (good to have your key available, just in case!). Used the YC laundry facilities at an uncivilized hour of the morning and needed my room key--the other time was during unlocked hours and didn't need it. Didn't need it at PC, either, but did for late night laundry (about midnight) at CSR.

Doing laundry after midnight seems so decadent and modern, Taja, like living on the wild edge of life. In my building at home, there is sign asking us not to do laundry after midnight (noise), so it would be quite worthwhile going to the GF, for that luxury only. :rotfl:
Whatever you do, don't send the laundry out at the resorts, as they want to charge an arm and a leg for everything.. it is almost cheaper to buy new clothes. I'd sure like to have the dry cleaners' business at Disney.

With the time difference, I'm usually awake at WDW until about 2:00 a.m.! Laundry seemed to be an efficient use of the time! :)
'Course, I haven't made park opening yet, much less morning EMH!
