:afraid: :afraid: :afraid: Heeeeeeeelp!!
I'm driving myself round the twist :hehe:
I cant decide on what bags to take with me (Dont laugh!! )
I was thinking a case for my clothes, one of those rucksack/trolley things for shoes, bits n bobs and pressies on the way back. So thats 2 items to be checked in.
Hand luggage, I was thinking one of those 'paper boy' type bags with toiletries, money, camera etc....
(Are you allowed a small handbag/purse aswell as hand luggage??)
Anyone got any tips or ideas ?? Thankyou :D :D :D
P.S. I feel like im playing the human version of Buckaroo :rotfl:

Who are you flying with? On my last flight, which was the first time I ever flew on a package flight you could only take on one piece of hand luggage. But on scheduled flights you can take 2.

I always take a small carry-on bag with two sets of underwear, one extra top and slacks (usually exercise stuff, as it is knit and easy to cram in the bag), extra pair of contact lenses & related items, eyeglasses, medications, very small bottle of Woolite or dishwashing detergent (1 or 2 oz.), and small quantities of basic toiletries. I have a 17" wheeled duffle bag that holds these items (and a few more) and can be placed in the overhead bin or under an aisle seat--it doesn't bend, so it won't fit under center or window seats. Need that extra aisle space to maneuver it under the seat. If you ever consider purchasing a similar bag, be sure it is no larger than 15" if you want it to fit under all seats on US planes.
Do you get the feeling my luggage hasn't arrived at the same destination at the same time as I did at times?
By the way, don't worry too much about your luggage going astray. It isn't a frequent occurrence, and it's usually redirected and returned to you within 24 hours. I just had some extremely bad experiences in the past, and find it more convenient to know I can survive two days without my primary luggage! :)

Oh! I also pack my shoes in with my clothing. I use shoe bags. I make them, but they're also available commercially. I've tried packing them separately, but it's more trouble than it's worth--for me, anyway! :D

Thankyou for the info - nice to know Im not the only one who worries about things like this lol
I am worried about cases going missing, so thats why I was thinking of a rucksack for hand luggage and putting my 'not replaceables' in there and some spare underwear   I'd just have to buy more clothes (what a shame  ) when im there if my cases got lost. But at least id still have my personal stuff with me :D :D
Thats a good idea : to take some detergent! Im sure i remember my mum going on about some travel hand wash stuff that she'd seen in our local shop - will add that to the 'must buy' list

Your post makes me wish I understood English. LOL. Carry ons vary with the airline. Be sure to check with them. There have been some arguments about briefcases and laptops being carry ons and then they started on women's purses. Two carry ons allowed. So it was PURSE, briefcase and lap top. Have you seen the SIZE of some of those things. No wonder the guys complained. Hey, I am female, but some of those purses! So guys started carrying purses, right? And then there was the woman with the over-sized makeup case who spent the last 45 minutes of the flight in the loo (so I know a little English) and couldn't be recognized when she came out. Hair curled and everything. Then there was a mass race to utilize the loo.

Sounds like a plan. I never ever put my medications or toiletry essentials in checked luggage....just don't trust people...
I generally use a bit larger "purse" when I travel and pack the small one to carry around WDW. I have also been know to change what I carry in the parks from day to day...depending on amount of water and sunscreen etc that I want to carry.
Good luck!

Just make sure that you don`t exceed the weight limit of your carry on items though.
Virgin, along with many other airlines are clamping down on over-weight items.

I don't have to be carried on yet, but I am overweight.

I was thinking of doing that too, taking another bag for carrying around the parks but pack it in my case.
Hmmm .... Decisions decisions!!
I've still got 8 months of this confusion :rotfl: :rotfl:

Eight months sounds just about right, You'll have everything in order. Just ask Meezers who puts the whole trip on her PDA, including the menus to the restaurants we will frequent.

It is a responsible parent's duty to keep their children in line. Uh, until what age? And who gets the spaghetti sauce, lasagna, pork chops and mashed potatoes, grilled chicken, meatballs, ad infinitum to pack in her lunch? Speaking of "taking". Yep! Picking on her. Thanks happymealUK for a rucksack full of fun.

Most of the US Domestic Airlines (Delta, Song, American, U.S. Air and AirTran all have this policy) allow one bag that will fit in the overhead and one that can go under the seat. Because I hate to check a bag unless I HAVE to, I bring a rolling suitcase (15") to go in the overhead and either my laptop bag (if I'm bringing it) or a backpack. Both of these easily fit under my seat. I shove my purse into one of these bags (I carry a small purse)

Thanks for the info :)
All this is really helping, its good to know what others do and what ideas you have, especially as we've never been on a plane before so the whole experience is new to us!!

2 bags up to 32kg each, 1 piece of carry on luggage weighing no more than 6kg, or is it 5kg, have to check that, and a SMALL handbag or camera bag. There are some dimension rules too, especially for the carry on bag. www.virginatlantic.com (http://www.virginatlantic.com) has all the guidelines. :D
