Hi,

We are going to Disney February 22nd. . .woohoo getting closer!

We have rented a car because we will be visiting relatives on the weekend before. We are staying at the All-Star Sports Resort. Would it be more effective for us to take our rental to the parks or rely on the Disney transportation? If we take our rental, are we charged for parking?

Thanks for the information!

No charge for parking as you are staying at a Disney Resort.

We always use the rental just for the convenience of not having to wait anywhere. Also we like to leave Disney to visit other places and need transport for that.

Some people swear by Disney transport though. Some of us just don't want the hassle of driving on their vacation, some of us like a few drinks with dinner, that kind of stuff.

You will not be charged for parking, you'll be given a parking pass when you check in.

Someone else will have to answer the other question though, as I always used the busses.

I believe you dont get charged for parking if you are staying at a Disney resort

About which to choose, it depends... if you know your way, taking your own car will definetly be quicker, than having to wait for a bus....

But... bear in mind that you might have to park far... far away from the park entrance, especially if you dont arrive at a park first thing in the morning...

Also, distances are huge, for example, it can take a good 15 to 20 minutes to get from the All Stars to Magic Kingdom, so that means whoever is driving will be driving at least 35 minutes a day....

I always have a car since I drive up. it is pretty rare that I actually use Disney transport. I like the flexability of having my car there. If I leave a park and want to go somewhere offsite it is nice and easy.

I've been wondering the same thing!! :overhere: Think I'll try and make a list of each method of transport thats available from each of the resorts we're staying at and which park it goes too and then decide. It might be nice to use some of the disney transport - so at least you've experienced it once :D

No charge for parking if you produce your WDW resort parking pass for the dates it encompasses. If you change resorts, you'll have a new pass for each resort.

I don't like driving with the pass on the dash, as it reflects in the windshield and distracts me. I keep it in the glove compartment and place it on the dash when parking at the resort or parks, although I remove it from the dash after parking at the parks. I frequently travel solo and tend to be extremely careful about things like that! :)

Now theres a thought! We're staying at 3 different disney hotels, check out at 11am and in at 4pm (or thats the official times anyway) for those 5 hours or so, will we still be covered by a parking pass?? Because we were thinking of getting bell services to move our bags early morning and then we could head straight to a park and get to the next hotel late evening and check in then.

Do you receive these passess at check in?? *worried now  *

Your resort parking pass will be valid at the WDW parks through the end of the day that you check out. You're covered! Just be sure to put the new pass in the car when you receive it!

We generally play it by ear. We almost always have a car with us. We will definitely drive if we are going to park hop or have a PS someplace other than the park we are going to. If we know we are going to spend the entire day in one place we will normally take Disney Transport.

Because we've never been to disney before, I was wondering what transport 'drop off' points were near to the gates of each park??

E.G. Is the monorail stop the nearest to the MK gates or is it the boats or the car parks OR is there no difference whatsoever?? :D

Just dont want to walk out of the park and then have miles to walk to our 'transport'

Hmmm. Trying to visualize this.

Car park trams are farthest from the MK entrance at TTC. They drop you in the general vicinity of your vehicle. Each lot has a name and character, and each row has a number. Be sure to note all three of these. This is true of all of the parking lots at WDW parks. When the trams drop guests, it's usually for at least 2 parking lots, so you may need to hike a bit. You will need to take the ferry or the monorail to MK from the TTC.

First time to MK, take the ferry if possible. It's a wonderful approach. Take either the monorail or the ferry to exit. It's nice to try both! :)

The ferry and the monorail will drop you in about the same place. Monorail may be a shade closer to the MK entrance.

I'm trying to remember where the WDW buses drop guests at MK. Do they go directly to the MK entrance, or drop guests at the TTC?

It's too early for my brain to kick into gear! :)

The WDW buses drop you off near to MK, only a short distance from the entrance.

Thankyou :)

I think we'll use the disney transport whilst in the 'world', it seems like the best option - unless there are huge queues and then we'll go in the car.

Might treat ourselves to a couple of taxi trips  :)

Thanks for the rescue, Slowhand!

I know better than to try to answer questions before I'm completely awake!
