What is the best tip you ever received from this site?

My favorite tip is watching the parades at the Magic Kingdom from the upper level of the Main Street Train Station. We were all tired out at the end of the day and wanted to see the last parade before we left the park. So when we took the train from the back of the park, we stayed on the platform, What a great view of the parade! Thanks much for whoever posted that.

My second favorite tip is asking to ride up front with the driver/pilot of the monorail. Great View!

Wasn't actually at WDW but it was on I-Drive in 1989 I think. Myself and my cousin were in a cab heading for Sea World when the cab driver suddenly told us to look in the sky. There we saw the faint vapor trail of a space shuttle heading towards the stars. Fantastic sight!! Cab driver got extra tip for that one.

The best tip I ever read was to take one of those plastic shoe holders. The ones you hang on a door. Not for shoes though (I don't have that many) but to put everyone's toiletries in the pockets. Keeps them off the bathroom counter.

Since we've been going to WDW for more years than I've been with this site, we'd already figured out most of the tips before I joined.

BUT I can say the best tip I received from this site is the DOLE WHIP! Try the Dole Whip!

I recieved so many great tips from these boards that contributed to my vacation, but one of the bes was when someone mentioned that your Disney World vacation is better when you relax. This allowed me to see everything I wanted and more. I was able to enjoy things like waiting in line or taking a break.

I have explained my best tip before but here goes.

In 2003 we were in orlando, it was while we were shopping in the publix store off h27 that we got talking to a local who worked there.

After asking if we were on vacation he went on to explain that in his opinion the best time to go was in october.
Not as hot, not as much rain, generally quieter parks.
So, that made our mind up for our 2004 trip, we would go in october!
We were not disappointed at all, true to his word the weather was fabulous, barely a queue at the parks.
Unfortunately this year we have to go in august because of other plans, but if anyone was asking what it is like in october? i'd say give it a go.

Bill.

Best Tip (especially if there are younger people in your party): Take a nap during the day! Get up early, hit the parks, come back during the heat of the day, take a nap, and then stay in the parks late. Works great.

Secondly, if you have a rental car, go to a grocery store and get food and drinks for the hotel room. Much cheaper than going down to the shops for a snack, and keeps people happy in the room.

HI my best tip if your staying for 2 weeks. Is make sure you have a chill day - this could be going to a mall in the morning and then staying by the pool in the afternoon, we did 2 days at 2 parks then a chill day, next year when we go we will be doing one day at a park and then a chill day due to my daughter studying for her exams

Just after I joined this forum and I was planning my trip, there were a lot of posts about limo transfers. I had never considered a limo but I was glad I did. It was so much less stressful than getting the shuttle bus.

Also from this forum I got the recommendation to eat at Boma, which is now one of my favourite restaurants. I would never have considered eating at a resort if I wasn't staying there.

My best tip if your staying in a villa is.

Buy bottled water in bulk at the supermarket, drink about an inch out the top of each bottle (to allow for expansion) and then stick them in the freezer overnight.

Next day when you go to the parks you will have ice cold water for most of the day as the ice slowly melts :D

The Goodnight Kiss is the name for the play of lights on the castle in the MK at closing. Nearly everyone will have left the park, and it is peaceful and quiet. It's gotten quite a little following, staying for the "Kiss."

I believe that there are several best tips I've gotten from this site.
1. Take a backpack with snacks and even a few sandwiches along with water bottles to help save money @ the parks.
2. STAY ON SITE! The perks and benefits are awesome!
3. Fantasmic is worth a 2 hour wait in the bleachers for the best seat for one killer of a show!

Here's a tip. Get a Soarin' FastPass FIRST! They run out very quickly and the wait time is 125 minutes. :tantrum:

Also, if it's raining, be prepared for Test Track to CLOSE. We had fast passes, having stupidly gone there before Soarin', and by the time we went back to Test Track with our fast passes, the ride was down. :rain:

Still, having a blast! :singinrai

Best tip we got off this site was, if you're staying offsite you can still catch the monorail that goes to the resorts to get to the TTC from MK.

There were 1000's of people waiting for the one that went straight to the TTC and we walked straight on to the resort monorail -- plus we got to look at all the hotels we want to stay in. :D

My best tip was to plan, plan, & plan before leaving. Know what you want to see and what you don't. Make up a schedule of which parks will be hit on which days. Then arrange for restaurant reservations for the parks you plan to be in.

And - if something comes up unexpectedly in the parks - change the plan! But having some sort of schedule ahead of time really helps cut down on unnecessary stress and rushing to get to places, and avoids a lot of "I don't know - what do YOU want to do" conversations when you're trying to find a place to eat. :D Reservations can always be canceled, but they can't always be made at the last minute.

How do you know when the parades are and where they are at ??? Does each park have one ???

thanks

MK, MGM, and AK all have parades. Epcot does not. :D

ALL over the parks you can find park maps (that mark the parade route) as well as a "times guide" (which will tell you when each show/parade begins, and how often it runs). If you miss those, ask any CM, they will be happy to advise you.

If you'd like to know before you go, click on this link:

http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/hours.html

Click on the month you will be visiting, the parade times are listed for each park on each day here as well...

For MK, it's abbreviated as SDCT
For MGM, it's SMC
For AK, it's JJP

Hope this helps!

BTW...just a quick reminder/tip...the best viewing spots for the parades will fill up well before the parade starts, so if getting a good seat is important, be prepared to queue up a bit early. :D

Firstly, wear comfortble shoes........I felt the pain of not doing this!

Secondly buy a thermos, and then an insulated bottle carrier to fit it in. Fill the thermos each morning with ice, then top up with water from the fountains in the parks. We did this every day and saved a fortune on water :D

The best tip I ever received was to take a water bottle/container for each person for the day. In the bagpack we had small pouches that carried enough koolaid, lemonade, crystal light.. whatever you prefer to flavour 1 water bottle. That way we didn't have to carry several drinks for the day and the weight, plus when the water was done, all parks have cold water fountains to refill the bottles and then you can make another cold drink. This way children aren't drinking alot of pop. We buy the big cannisters of lemonade crystals from CountryTime and put them in small snack bags which take up less room and are much lighter to carry!! It worked great and I had several compliments while down there about what a great idea it was.

That's a great tip, it amazes me sometimes how much people spend on drinks in parks, it's never the cheapest of holidays so saving a bit of money without being tight is always my priority.

2. STAY ON SITE! The perks and benefits are awesome!
:iagree: :ohyes: And trust me it's no fun when the bus driver leaves without you and your standing in the parking lot wondering how the heck your going to get back to your hotel. My DH is a stay on site person now.

Dole Whip is a desert item.

The Goodnight Kiss happens at MK after closing (no set time) when visitors are wished a good night and the colors on the castle all change.

A Dole Whip is either a pineapple juice topped with pineapple soft serve ice cream or you can get a diet coke topped with vanilla soft serve ice cream. I have had the pineapple one and it was very yummy!
They are from a counter service in Magic Kingdom.

The good night kiss at Magic Kingdom is the castle changing colours and music n stuff just as the park closes. If you scroll up you will see a link that uscwest has posted which is a clip of it.

We got a case of water for $5 in Publix and it costs $2.50 per bottle in the parks, we would all carry our own bottle to the parks with us so DH did not get them all in the rucksack :)

We haven't gone yet with a baby. We'll be taking our DS for the first time in December. The best tip I got was to put something on your stroller to distiguish it from the others. We are bringing our Graco stroller and I've seen our same stroller/pattern all over the place. It must be very popular! So we are going to tie a brightly colored piece of cloth to the handle.

Second best tip was to mail yourself a box to the resort before you go. We end up packing a tremendous amount of stuff for DS just for a day trip. So we're going to be mailing DS's baby food and extra supplies like diapers and wipes the week before we head down. This way we don't have to lug it all on the plane.
