I go to WDW in 9 days, and of course am sooooo excited. I've read the Brits guide and the unofficial guide and have got some tips to hopefully help my trip become a bit easier and less stressfull. Anyone got any tips for travelling with two boys, (5 & 7), what rides would be good for them etc, what I should take everyday into the parks etc.
I'm stopping in Kissimee at the Nikki Bird hotel, anyone been?
Any helpful ideas or tips would be most appreciated.
Thanks :D

for one thing, never drag kids on rides that they feel uncomfortable going on. If they dont want to go, tell them exactly what to expect and try to pursuade them, but if they flatout refuse, dont push them, it can make for som v. upset little kids

Well if you know what I am talking about take one for sure the water bottle spray fan things and of course there are water fountains every where so dont worry about having to bring tons of water bottles. I am 13 so I think the TTA is a good ride lol they will probobally love the Buzz Lightyear ride there are some other rides just kinda depends on what kind of rides they are into. When you go the park put on sun screen and just dont go to fast you will get worn down fast in the heat. I forgot what else I was going to say. Well good luck!!

The first time we went to Disney I just 'went with the flow' and took time to enjoy what was going on around us. It's such a fabulous place that you've got to take the time to take on board all the attractions and entertainment. Let your kids try all the rides they want to - they'll let you know if they don't want to do something!
Have a great time!

I think the best thing is to look at the schedule of events when you go into the parks and then decide what you would all like to see. Don't say no to see something, other people might enjoy it even if you don't fancy it. Remember its a childrens world and we are all children at heart!!

Get to the parks early, can't stress that enough. It's amazing the difference it makes if you're there at opening time.

1. Afternoon breaks............2. lots of water & sunscreen........and 3. You wont see everything or do everything you planned but you will have a great time! :ears:
Bandanas for the boys, dipped in water to wear on head or round neck.
Ride/attraction choices are such a personal thing, really does depend on the childrens' personality....so just take your lead from them.

Days wil be long and very hot when you're there. Take water and refill the bottle at water fountains. Don't carry alot of heavy stuff, it will only help in wearing you out. Have a great time.

If you have a lot of stuff, LOCKERS are such a blessing. They cost $5 and are well worth it. You can cram so much stuff in those lockers, it's amazing

Hi Leemina..if you get the chance visit a walmart on arrival and stock up on snacks, drinks, any swimming aids ( u can buy really cheap snorkelling stuff and fun things for the pool) disney t-shirts, i also purchase disposable dishes/spoons and lots of cereals ( they have some really cool cereals for the kids! ) thats if you dont have any breakfast facilities, my son lives on cereal! you'll save lots on the above as opposed to buying from the smaller local shops! I've also heard u can buy from walmart some kind of individual sachets of crystals that u add to water ( water available in parks for free from fountains)..a little preparation when u arrive can save a lot of cash in the long run ( ps if your hotel offers free ice, fill your bucket and this will keep milk/pop cool overnight, unless you have a fridge)last of all if no car and you use the hotels shuttle( if one provided) on return to the hotel arrive at the shuttle pick- up point in plenty of time as it gets very busy! try to sus out where the queue starts, i have previously queued at the wrong side and ended up at back of queue ..hope this helps..have a magical time!

Sunscreen.
And an early start. Get up early and get to the parks at opening. You'll get a good start on the crowds and see lots before the lines build up. Then when it gets hot and crowded early afternoon you can bail and take a pool break or a nap and return refreshed early evening when everyone else is heading home exhausted.

Drink lots of water and walk in the shade, especially at this time of year. We always bring lots of empty water bottles in our suitcases - they cost approx $2.50 in the parks, so you will make a big saving. Bring empty water bottles was easily the best tip we were ever given.

Get to the parks early and when your kids are tired leave. You can go back to your hotel for a nap or a swim and hit the parks again later if they are up for it.
Last year I saw loads of parents shouting at their kids :thunder: (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&select_category=Sad%2C+Angry%2C++and+Shocked#) I am guessing they were tired but felt they had to keep going even though it was no longer fun.
Also - don't try and do everything - no matter what you think you will be back

Carry as little as possible, and don't stick to a plan which is too rigid :)

And be sure to hold on to that receipt - especially if you are park hopping! You don't have to pay for the locker at the second park!

Dont try and wear in new shoes.
I havent been to Disneyworld yet but after Paris I would say patience is needed at times.

Hi,
before you go, try to have at least a rough idea of what parks you want to hit and when. Try to find out what parks are busy when so you can plan around that. If you have children and you don't have a plan, there will be some big arguments over breakfast as to what to do that day.
Try to plan around weather. Maybe if you plan on going to a pool, that might be a good way to split your day and go to the pool after lunch the hottest part of the day.
Remember that you are on vacation and to relax. Don't rush around because then you will be just as tired when you get home. Remember to take everything at a pace that will allow you and your family to have a good time, see a lot, but relax too. Enjoy your trip and i hope you have a great time
