I was reading about packing for the cruise. One of the items listed for a "medical kit" was "Safe Sea" - a sun block that helps protect against the stinging of most jellyfish, sea lice, coral, and sea anemone. Has anyone heard of this or used it?

Check this link out Donna! Haven't used it before. I read about it and think I might get it for our cruise next month. It feels great to say our cruise is next month:woohoo:

LOLOL you guys, just think of all the fabulous stories she's going to bring home with her!
Donna, my MIL brings it with her wherever she goes when cruising and just around for a day at the beach. She swears by it.

Do I have to order it online or can I find it at a pharmacy/drug store?

Where are you cruising? I've been to the Pacific and the Caribbean and have not had any problems with any of those sorts of creatures!
If you see evidence of jellyfish (look like bubbles on the water with a blue cast-Portugese Man o' War, or flat red or white blobs on the water) then DON'T get in the water! The tentacles are longer than you would imagine and although the body may look far away you can get a nasty sting from it anyway. Never touch one that's washed up on the beach.
Meat tenderizer is what divers use for jellyfish "stings." Don't know about the others. Don't wanna' either! :nono:

Bev and I (oh, and our DH's) are going on the Western Caribbean cruise.
When we took our DGDs to the beach, we encountered jellyfish, but they weren't all that noticable until we were practically on them. At that point we got the heck out!
Mom got stung really badly one time - again, she didn't see them until they stung her. That was at the Jacksonville beach, which was closed for a short time right after that because they became so bad!

When we would go to the beach (Galveston) we'd always check for those bobbing bubbles....they have a season that they come around..can't remember when though.

Wow. Scary. I've not had any encounters with them, other than Maine (jellyfish that is) and not ever been stung.
Have seen them many times on/in the water and have managed to avoid them.
Too bad about your Mom. :( Not a nice thing, those stings. :nono:

No... Her thighs looked pretty nasty. Lots of welts. But the water was so choppy we couldn't have seen a beach ball!
