Is anyone planning or has already booked to go to WDW in June - we are there the last week in June and the 1st week of July so we will be there for Independance Day

Incidentally has anyone been during Independance Day holidays and if so what tips or comments could you give to us - I am expecting bigger crowds but we have been in the height of the summer season previously are the crowds likely to match that period?

You can find who is going in June here (http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=208372#post208372) and July here (http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22660)

You will find the parks very busy for July 4th.

Thanks JM - with reference to how busy the parks will be, we were there for Thanksgiving last year would this be a good comparison to how busy it will be? or will it be a lot busier i hope not could just about handle the crowds last year

When do the school holidays start in the USA?

There is no magic "school's out" date but you can figure by the middle of June the majority of schools are out for summer vacation. Most go back from the end of August up to just after Labor Day.

I would never venture to the parks around July 4th. I did do the water parks last year and they were packed. Never again.

We were there for the 4th of July last year...

NEVER, NEVER, AGAIN.

I would stay away from the parks that day, maybe just lounge around the resort pool.

July 4 is a big day for the parks. Lots of local people come for the fireworks alone. I go every year, myself. :D Even when I was in Ft. Myers, I would use DVC points to stay and do the parks during this holiday. It is fun. It is hot. It is high capacity!

I like it. :D You can always do the parks for a portion of the day (or evening) and do the resort pool for the rest of the day. Some resorts (maybe just DVC's? ) have little celebrations of their own. I'd go to the one at OKW and then head to the park (EPCOT) for the evening. Never had a problem getting in.

I was there the year WDW canceled all the fireworks shows for the Fourth because of the raging fires throughout Central and Eastern Florida. People were actually refugeeing to WDW to get away from the fires in Flagler county. Ash was falling from the sky.

Let's hope we never have to go through something like that again!

So, if you plan well, and realize that you will be working around high capacity attendance, you'll be fine. Stay flexible, and let yourself be happy with the energy of the crowd! WDW is a great place to be during this and any holiday.

I wish we had done that last year. We thought it would be special to be at Magic Kingdom on Independence Day but is was pretty bad. Massive lines for everything, park full by lunchtime, we did not have a break in the afternoon in case we could not get back in later for the fireworks display. Hot and humid and it poured with rain for hours :( . We found the whole Independence Day weekend was like that. Spring or Autumn from now on for us.
