2 years ago we used 2 way radios. THey worked ok. Has anyone had any success with a certain brand. I just bought a newer one hoping that would help it is a Cobra 6 mile range with privacy codes.

I would like to know about this 2 way also...6 miles is good, but you know you won't get that range...but it's more than the 2 mile range will get you.
Let me know if you like this one.

not sure but a tip for the plain. take one battery out each so it doesn't cause radio interference if they go on b/m.

We use the Motorola radios, and they work well. They're a bit pricey, though.

The trick is getting some really obscure channel that nobody will use.

on a side note, our family has a friend that lives by WDW, they have a very high tech radio, so they can listen into security at WDW!

You cannot bring 2-ways from the UK into the US. It is illegal. If you want to use 2-ways you'll have to buy them over here

You can buy a pair quite cheaply in Walmart.
Ours are Motorola and worked well for the amount of time and distance we needed them.

We have found that our cell phones work much better than the 2 way radios. It just seems that we can never find a channel that is clear. You are hearing so many other conversations all day that it can get annoying. We have free long distance on our cell phones and also free mobile to mobile, so it works out good.

Purely out of interest... can I ask why they are illegal?
I only ask because I bought a thing for my ipod which transmits my ipod over very short range fm radio (only a couple of metres) which is perfectly legal in the US but illegal here in the UK.
Is it different frequencies allowed for the two countries or something?

the problem with two way radios is sometimes the metal from the rides can cause interferance.. we had this happen at Cedar Point in OHIO

i know you're not allowed to bring foreign walkie talkies over here because they can interfere with police radios etc maybe it's the same reason :)

Cell phone service is sketchy at WDW. I frequently lose my signal outside, and nearly always inside.
I've just purchased two way radios (set of four) and have used them with good results in the park. They have a power button on them that allows a range up to ten miles. I've had good results with being in Future World and communicating with someone in the Boardwalk Inn parking lot, so the range is excellent for at least that far.
The air use can be troublesome, but if you turn the volume down, it's not too bad.
I've found that people understand the rules of the air fairly well, and will stay silent while you reach your party, for the most part.
I quite like having them, and intend to use them often.
Oh, I bought them at Sam's, I think? Yes, Sam's Club. They each come with their own charger, have multiple settings (for custom "ring" that sort of thing) privacy codes, 22+ channels, that power button I mentioned, and the ten mile range. They were $70 for four. Couldn't beat the price, eh?
I know you can buy singles and sets of doubles elsewhere for fairly good prices. Target has some good buys as well as Walmart, and other places.

TINK!!! Product name! You sound like you got good 2-ways. I have older ones, can't remember who makes them...Memorex?? anyway...I'm looking for a longer range set of radios.
If you can remember the maker of your radios could you let me know? Thanks.

Cell service is going to depend on the provider. I have Sprint PCS and I have no problem as long as I'm not in a ride getting signal

We were going to get radios when we go over but i'm beginning to think they may be more bother than they are worth. Do we really want to here lots of people trying to contact each other and then not being able to contact our own friends. I'm not sure what to do......help !!!!!
