I bought a Xyron sticker machine yesterday.
Friday was our day off and we spent it running around getting some things done - banking, post office, etc. I also took advantage of the opportunity and ran into Michael's Crafts store. I have been wanting to buy a Xyron machine but wasn't sure how much it would cost me. Well, after checking out the price (and choking a bit...), I told John I would wait until Sunday's advertisements were out and I'd use the 40% off coupon to buy it. John joked that I wouldn't be able to because they would purposedly put it on sale - coupons are only good for regularly priced items.
So I'm looking through the Sunday ads and found the one for Michael's. There was the 40% off coupon. And wouldn't you know it? John was right! They put the machine on sale - 40% off!!! So 5 minutes after the store opened Sunday morning, I was there grabbing my Xyron machine! Yoo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Donna, I think that's the one I have (does full pages, right?) and I LOVE it. I stickerize everything. Makes scrappin' a whole lot of fun.

Yeah, it does full sheet stickers, lamination, magnets, etc. I'm sure it will make scrapping much easier! No more glue stick all over the place!

I like when that happens! :) Saves money and is good, it pays to wait. :)

Yes, please let us know how you like it. I've been watching those on the scrapbooking shows but it seems to me that they waste too much of the adhesive paper. If you run a small die-cut through it then all the excess around it is wasted. Is this so?

Yes, that might be the case. I haven't played with it yet. However, if you run many small things in at the same time, you won't waste as much. And if you know you will be wanting to make a sticker out of something eventually, you can just run it through and leave the covering on it so that the sticky isn't exposed. Then, later when you need it, remove the covering.

You went shopping? Voluntarily?
What is the world coming to?
You'll enjoy it, Donna! I keep looking at them, but don't do enough to make it worthwhile!

One thing I learned (belatedly!!) is that you can stack the items too, to take full advantage of the adhesive (and get the edges only, for instance)
Taja - did you see they have smaller versions, too. DD's got one of the little X versions. Too cute!

My wife tole me to add (she is a buyer for a scrapbook store) that you might want to get the Xyron 150 (which is 1.5" wide) and 250 (which is 2.5" wide) and use them for smaller items and help prevent cartridge waste. The 150 is about $10 US and can save you alot in refill cartdirge costs. My wife has all of the Xyrons from the 900 on down and now usually uses the smaller ones (150 and 250) most of the time.

I like the idea of the smaller Xyron's. I might look into it this summer, when I actually have time to craft a bit. I'm still battling weeds as tall as I am!

Mike, that is a cool idea!
Taja, I'll send you my two feet of snow if you send me your weeds? I'm *dying* to garden and I grow weeds well!

Shopping at Michael's isn't the same as going to the grocery or the mall!!! I don't have to smell stinky fish or try on clothes... LOL

Stacking things (with the smallest on bottom and the largest overlapping, I assume) is a great idea!

Goin in Sept 05,
I've been thinking about the smaller one... It might be a good investment. Thank your wife for the great tip!

Yeah, once you add in shipping and handling, etc., it was probably just as cheap at Michael's.
