I have a few questions about the Disney Visa:

1. What company issues the card? (I've seen Bank One, Chase, First Usa...)

2. Does anyone have a phone number I can call for information? (I can't find one online)

3. I have credit cards from BankOne/1st USA and Chase. Does anyone know if its possible to switch a current card account you have to a Disney Visa rather than getting a whole new credit card account?

Thanks in advance! :wiggle:

HLAuburn,
When my card was first issued, it was BankOne, but I recently received a note in the mail that it is now Chase.

2. Does anyone have a phone number I can call for information? (I can't find one online)

Try this one: Disney CardMember Services toll free at 1-800-300-8575. Available everyday, 24 hours a day.

You should call and ask. I have a feeling that it is a matter of setting up a new account, but maybe not.... Perhaps you could give us an update on this when you find out. :)

Hi-
Thanks, dc, for the information. When I called, they told me Chase actually issues the card as of right now, but it does look like the 2 companies merged.

Anyway, as for switching over an exisiting Chase/Bank One Card, can't do it. :( You have to go thru another application...should have known, huh?

I have a Chase Universal card that I never use, so I'm thinking about canceling that account and applying for the Disney Visa. Just have to decide if it's worth the trouble.

Thanks again for the help!

Just to put my 2 cents in. It is worth it if you are planning on going to Disney. I've already earned $35 disney dollars that are free! Just for charging items I would normally buy! I'm planning on putting the Disney dollars towards my tickets. It's just free money!

what is the apr?

12.65% (Variable-The APR for purchases is based on the Prime Rate. )
APR (Cash Advances): 21.49% Variable

To view the most current rates, please see the most recent:terms and conditions

In the scenario of carrying a balance--earning the rewards becomes very expensive! For example, instead of having a 25 day grace period on new purchases, they charge interest based on average daily balance. After the introductory offer of no interest for 6 months, they also have occasional offers of no interest for 6 months on Disney vacation packages purchased through the card--however, you have to make sure you don't have any other charges on your card other than that package. I believe the way it works is: they will charge interest on new purchases (based on average daily balance excluding the package) because you are carrying a balance. And, I believe they apply any new payments to the interest free package charges and then apply interest payments to the balance of your new charges.

Maybe someone else might have some insight into this, but the only way I could see to come out ahead on this free 6 month interest on Disney Packages is to have a Disney Credit Card dedicated to Disney packages and make sure they are paid off in full within the 6 month grace period.

During the introductory offer, everything is interest free, but I believe the pitfall there is they do charge a transfer fee which is a percentage for balance transfers/cash advances. (You really have to watch the fine print! )

Another interesting thing is if you do a search, there are different incentives for signing up:
25.00 reward (http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?partner_dir_name=disney_25ddrd_aff01&page=cont&mkid=605V&AFFID=x_S254V_QB8-Wb3LF0di3N84PgWpIXjt6A)

In the past, I have seen codes for rewards as high as $50.00 just for signing up!

The offer for $50 reward card is no longer being offered. :( I tried to click on the link and it wouldn't go through. So, I tried to call the 800 # listed and the recording stating that the offer was no longer valid.
Good try though, I almost opened up an account for my husband since I already have the Disney Visa just to get the $50 in reward dollars!
Thanks anyway.
