Many of the stores sell both ntsc and pal.. so make sure to get a pal one! other than that, check that the power adapter will work from 110-240v so you'll just need a us->uk power adapter (very cheap). If it works only at 110v (unlikely) then you'll need a power convertor which is a BIT more expensive.

Other thing is... make sure you're really getting a good deal after sales tax etc. It can often work out cheaper to order in the UK off the internet (or at tax free dixons in the airport).

they are real cheap here at the moment if you buy online, when i was looking last year, i made the decision i would rather buy one here, there is also warranty repairs to be thinking of too, if it goes wrong when you get back will they honour the warranty, as i've heard a few dont

i was really looking at that idea, and was talking to keith at length about it last year, and i decided against it, the media is dear, it dont last very long, so i went for a sony dv one, terrific visually, and i have edited with special effects and burnt onto dvd anyway, i did want to try out the sony dvd camera but no shop would let me test the quality of picture, so i decided no, as i didnot want to be buying a lemon :D

also most if not all dvd's only record 60mins sp and 90mins lp, i can burn movies to over 2 hrs on mine :)
