I called to make a PS for the segway tour for our December 1st - 11th trip and the CM told me it was the rainy season in December - I dont remember lots of rain in December when we lived in south Florida? Anyone go this time of year and run into lots of rainy days?

according to this site (http://www.weather.com/activities/other/other/weather/climo-monthly-graph.html?locid=USFL0372) December has the lowest rainfall at 2.31inches!

I think that's Disney's way of saying hurricane.

Hmm I am going to be there the exact same days, I will guess we will both know. I don't think so though, because when I was down in December, out of the 3 weeks, it only rained once. Summer is rainy season.

My passporter planning book lists December rainfall at 1.9". The lowest month for rainfall. I'm not sure if she was confused or what?

britchick she soundsed like she was from another planet :rotfl: I think she was secretly working for another theme park she did everything but beg me not to make the PS so odd .... I lived in south Florida for over 20 years and December in my memory was not a rainy month - now the summer that was an almost everyday thing with the afternoon thunderstorms that would pass pretty quickly! DH and DS are booked rain or shine for the segway tour!!

I was at WDW in early December, 2004 and I don't recall it raining at all. If it did, it was insignificant. Temperatures were quite pleasant.

In mid-December, 2003, we had one wet day (intermittent) and one really cold night. Otherwise, quite moderate temperatures.

We were at WDW the first 2 weeks of December 2003, and I cannot recall any significant rain problems. Personally I preferred the milder December weather than the higher temperatures / humidity of the earlier months.

Our previous two trips had been made in early September. We were there when Hurricane Floyd threatened to flatten Kennedy Space Centre, and caused the general evacuation of the east coast of Florida. The hurricane turned north at the very last minute, skimmed up the Florida coast and did very unpleasant things to the two states north of Florida (sorry, can't remember the state names off hand - I have enough problems with UK Counties!)

Sound like me for a ton of this years' hurricane season :D

You shouldn't have a problem with rain in December. I was at Disney the end of November/early December this past year and we got one night of rain - and did it ever rain!

We tend to go every December and although Florida is always somewhat unpredictable ;-) december's my fave time. Low crowds (although getting noticeably higher each year since the low in 01) and the weather tends to be cooler but less rain. If there is rain it tends to be short lived and half hour later it's as if it never happened. Add that to the christmas decorations and December is just the best time to be there IMHO.

I can't imagine what the CM was thinking. Many Floridians will tell you that the first week in December is one of the nicest, weather-wise, all year long. It's much more apt to rain in the summer, in fact, you can almost count on a shower every afternoon in July and August. The weather in December is somewhat unpredictable, though, particularly insofar as temperature is concerned. Pack for all possibilities. Last year, by the middle of the month, temperatures were dropping into the low thirties at night, and gardeners were scrambling to cover the flowers to protect them from frost. They did a land-office business in gloves, scarves, and jackets, though! I remember reading a comment from someone who spoke of planning for every contingency or, "You may come home with an entire Disney wardrobe you didn't plan on buying!" I have been there during December in other years, and the temperatures have been in the eighties. As so many, advise, think layers, and pack a poncho or umbrella. And, enjoy the Segway tour - I LOVED it!

This is actually one of the best times for doing the Florida thing. Hurricane season ends Nov 30th, and the temps have cooled off considerably. You may get a passing shower so bring the Mickey ponchos, but for the most part you should be fine. The best thing to do is pack both warm and cool weather clothes.
