I will be renting a wheelchair whilst at Disney and think that on the whole (ie with the exception of AK with its hills!!) all I will need is the manual wheelchairs.

I assume that they have the self propelling rims on the outside of the wheels so that if abandoned!!! I can move myself??

I am going late may - Early June 05. If I follow all the rules re which park to visit on which days - how easy will it for me to get a wheelchair. The disney site says limited availability. Dont really want to be turning up with 4 kids at crack of dawn every day!!!. Anyone know how many wheelchairs there are in the park??

Also want flexibility to go from one park to another - so info useful.

Has anyone tried the Disney - every day - longer term wheelchair rental. It is mentioned on their website but no link to prices and or guaranteed chairs!!
Cant hire one off site as car will not take it - 7 seater only has room for pushchair!:)

Any other helpful tips here:yawn:

The wheelchairs can be used only in the park where rented for the day. You can use your receipt to rent another wheelchair in another park on the same day (not sure how the deposit works with these). White Queen or someone with more experience should be along to provide more advice.

Have you considered renting either a manual wheel chair or ECV offsite and having it delivered to your resort? It would be available to you when you need it. Wish I had done that during our August, 2003 trip! I was hobbling badly from a leg/foot injury and had to ice everything down every two hours or so! :( Otherwise, it was a great trip!

Where are you staying? On WDW property or off site? Desperately trying to remember what you've said in previous posts!

Off-site - tight budget

If possible, I'd try to go for the EVC. For the October meet I was 3 weeks away from ACL surgery and on crutches. I attempted a manual chair at Epcot and it was impossible for me (and I have pretty good upper body strength) I went back to the front and went for the EVC - much easier

Thank you. Hoping hubby will push!!!
Price difference is quite high between manual and ECVs

Do you need a licence to drive the ECV
Some people should!!!!!!
