Recently booked our family holiday for (march) next year - 10 nights at POR and 4 nights cruise with Virgin Holidays!!! So excited - can't wait!! I know I probably could of got the price down by booking independently but with the VF discounts there wasn't much in it. However I have had a few problems ...
I originally wanted a cat 7 but virgin only do cat 12,9,5 & 4. I therefore upgraded to a cat 9 but then changed my mind and requested an upgrade to a cat 7 to which I was told didn't exist! When it was finally acknowledged that a cat 7 does exist I was told it was going to cost me more than a cat 5!!! And that a cat 7 is better than a cat 5!!! In the end I just called the FV club who told me that Virgin only sell cat 12,9,5 &4 and all other categories are on 'request' only from Disney and therefore that is the price they were quoted. Seems silly that I can get a better deal by booking a 5 than a 7!!! Anyway I was going to upgrade and then after a bit of investigation work decided that we are happy with a cat 9 and if we receive an upgrade to a better stateroom then fantastic! But at this moment in time cannot justify the price of an upgrade.
Also keep reading that most people know their stateroom's prior to departure, if I contact virgin will they be able to give that to me? Or will I not find out until departure? Please help - I'm a cruise virgin and it's all driving me mad and we don't go for another 12 months!!!
