Johnie got me thinking about cell phones. I will be having to get a new cell phone plan and am looking at two different phones. I was wondering, is there any major difference in the flip phones and the candybar phones??? Besides the obvious. :D

It's a regular phone shaped like a remote control.
I've found that you go to the store and try them out.
Whatever style or model feels most comfortable is the one for you.
I just got a candybar last week. http://www.wdisneyw.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I was just in the cell phone store last night looking at incredibly tiny, expensive gadgets.

I love my candybar phone. I like it better than flip phones, because with flip phones I always feel like I have to be gental with them or they'd break. my candybar phone is really small too.

I just swapped a Nokia 6230 (non-flip) for a 7270 (flip) and the jury's still out. I can't seem to hear as well on the new one. DH has done the same too, swapped a 6600 (non-flip) for a 6260 (flip and twist thing!). Flip phones feel a bit weird to us both. I think we'll probably change back next time.

hehe that's too funny... I want the 6260 as well and Helen wants the 7270 so will be looking forward to a full review Paula & Alec :). I'm a massive fan of Nokia, I think their phones are by far the easiest to use and especially text on, but they've never really done flip phones before. My problem with the 7270 is no bluetooth which I need, but the 6260 looks good but no outside screen to see who's calling before opening it I think? :/
I do kinda like flip phones... they protect the screen, tend to be shorter in size and also prevent the keys from being pressed in my pocket so no accidental calls (I know you can lock or auto lock the candy bars but still, easier just to close a flip).
The nokia I think will be REALLY excellent is the successor to the 6600, the 6680 (pic below). It's a huge advance on the 6600 and 3G compatible too.

Hi Keith,
I like the 6260, all I've done is turn off the automatic answer on opening feature so I can still accept or reject calls

Yeah .. I think so. Pics seem good, menu functions very similar if not identical to my old phone so all in all, no problems. One of Paula's brother has one too, he recommended it to me.

Just acquired a new Samsung candybar phone and opened a new pay-as-you go account. My old Nokia worked perfectly well, except the battery wouldn't hold a charge. A new battery was about $65 with tax! After three years of faithful service it has been retired!
The new phone, after rebate, was about $60 including tax and shipping ($40 rebate), and the plan includes $15 of air time. I use it sporadically as the need arises, so $40 a month or more for a conventional plan doesn't work for me. If I feed this one $10 every 60 days, the minutes roll over. Then I have them when I need them!
