I *love* my iPod. I didn't think I would be so attached to it. I wanted it to be able to use as a moveable hard drive, however, I've become highly addicted. I discovered audiobooks and it's a great way to fall asleep! :hehe:
We like Best Buy around here, but I've no clue where it might be in Orlando...

Mermaid,
I don't think it really matters which store you purchase the iPod as it is a rare thing to find a sale or discount on it.
Have you seen the iShuffle? It is about as big as a package of gum. It is very cute! It doesn't have all the capabilities of the mini, but I bought it to listen to audio books--it is very convenient for that. DS has one to listen to music when he is running.

i would get the mini dv cammy online over here, i think they are just as cheap, and easier to get repaired if you have problems with it, same goes for the ipod really, its a long way to go to take them back, as some warranties are only good for the country you buy the appliance from, but that just my opinion
what cammy are you looking at?

We really don't know to be honest....we would prefer a Sony..would like one with quite a bit of memory....in the past we looked at one but the playing time was only 30 mins...

well me and keith did a lot of research on these sony's as we both like them, it was for me as i was replacing my old sony hi8
mini dv tapes last for 60mins sp 90mins lp with no drop in quality that i could see, we both decided and i went and bought the sony hc40 and i love it :D it fits in you back pocket its that small, they have some new ones out with better optical zoom but i think i would still go for the hc40 because i dont use the zoom for far away filming anyway :D
take no notice of the didital zoom size you wont want to use it quality is poor
i also looked into the dvd cammys, and they say the quality is not upto scratch and not as good as a dv tape, they only last for 30mins and the discs are much dearer
good luck with whatever you choose :D

As Sir Nutty says, we spent ages looking... the hc40 seems to be the sweet point :) good price, loads of features.. it's taken over from the trv33 (I think it was called) from the previous year.
The newer hc42 seems to have gone backwards in a few aspects :/ but the hc32 is tempting with 20x zoom.
I agree with nutty, buy it in england on the internet and you'll often do better than you would in orlando. In fact, I looked in orlando in March and had a heck of a time finding UK PAL camcorders, most were ntsc until you got to the dodgy camera shops on international drive and well you just dont want to go there.
Ipod wise.... I did at one time think Ipods were better priced over in orlando but when I looked this time, I couldn't seem to get a price that was better than the UK (once I added in sales tax etc.). I still think the best ipods are the ipod minis.. they seem to be a nice combination of enough storage + small.

Just a word of warning to people thinking of buying in the usa, although the exchange rate is attractive at the moment, tread wearily, for a start you would not be covered under british consumer rights laws.
Also when buying from abroad, even over the internet, be wary of grey imports, these are goods supplied by manufacturers to other countries, then re sold into the uk.
The contents and accessories may be different as if you had bought the same item in the uk.
They, grey imports, do not have a warranty, which does'nt need much more explaining.
There was at one time a rumour circulating that a particular high street outlet was dealing with these products, people thought they were getting a good deal until something went wrong.
Just be careful out there guys! < break into hill street blues theme >

My boyfriend bought a 60gb Creative Nomad mp3 players from Pixmania, he orderd it on the Sunday and it was here on the Tuesday. And it was alot cheaper than the i-pod, with more space.
(What he doesn't realise yet is that I want one for my birthday  )
As for the DVD camcorders, the best thing with them is to wait for a while, as they are still pretty new out, and the manufactures still need to find out what works great and what doesn't.
On alot of computers now you can plug in your cam corder via a usb port, upload what ever you filmed and then burn it on to dvd if you have a dvd copier in your computer.

least it's easy to take back if any problems etc from there!
Definitely need to give them a good test when you get them.. the most common problem (not with that model, with any model) seems to be that some will record a load of motor noise so you hear a loud background hum on your recordings.. so definitely test for that
