What's the best trip to book in Nassau? It's our first cruise and although we want to see something of Nassau, my son who's 8, would really prefer to stay on board the ship. Is it worth going on an all day trip?
Thanks

Since you have never been to Nassau and if you want to see a little of the island you can either take one of the excursions on the ship that covers the historic side of the island or you can just grab a cab when you get off the ship and do the same thing on your own.

I wouldn't go on an all day trip but something that is a couple of hours long will be good and will get you back on the ship to enjoy it for the rest of the day

Oh I would not do a cab :afraid: .

On our last visit to Nassau we finally determined that we should do an excursion. We had never gotten off the ship since the very first visit when we spent :35 minutes on land and ran back to the ship  .

We did the Atlantis and Aquarium excursion and it was great! . They pick you up at the dock on an air-conditioned bus, give you a quick tour of the island, drop you off at Atlantis, break up in groups of 15 people and take you to every spot of the Aquarium.

The tour last about an hour and a half, by that time it's around 2:00pm. After that, you can either go back to the bus and go back to the ship or stay at Atlantis. The last bus back to the ship leaves at 5:30pm, they run every half hour until then.

All the cabs that are within the terminal gates are all licensed and have special permits to be in that area. I have taken a cab myself and they are fine. You have to remember that for most of these cabbies this is their living and they do well with it and I am sure take great care in not losing the cruise business

Thanks for that. I like the sound of a quick look round the island and then back to the ship!

We took a horse and Carriage ride around the city about 30minutes in length, Very nice and it costs $20, We also have done a snorkel excursion, DON"T Waste your money, It was horrible, Nassau is not a top snorkeling place and Castaway Cay is 100% better!!!!! personally Nassau is not my favorite place and I prefer the activities on board the ship, if you are comfortable with it, you can leave your son on board the boat if he doesn't want to go and you can explore the island without him. He will be perfectly safe in the club, and will definatly be entertained during your absence.
