Character Breakfast - What time?

We have a PS for Chef Mickey's on our first full morning at DW.
I made the PS for 8:10am but now I'm wondering if I should have tried for earlier because I was hoping to be in the park for the gate opening.
This will be our only day to be at MK that early but I'm wondering if that's a big deal or not? How much time do you usually allow for a breakfast such as Chef Mickey's? Would you suggest showing up a little early and see if it's possible to get seated early? How long is the ride from Chef Mickey's to MK? Is there anything we'd miss seeing if we are not there for the gate opening?
I'm interested in anyone suggestions or ideas!

About the only thing that I can think you would miss is the characters arriving on the train. I would allow AT LEAST 1 hour for breakfast, though you might get out quicker. You could walk to MK from the CR in under 10 minutes or you could wait for the monorail, but that then goes to the Polynesian and GF before getting you back to MK.

Would we see basically the same thing (the characters arriving on the train) at any of the other parks? We will be to the other parks at opening.

We went last year for the Chef Mickey's character breakfast. We stayed at the Old Key West resort, we got there 30 minutes early. We did not get seated until about an hour later. Maybe it was just our luck, you may have beter luck.

No, I dont belive they have a charecter train at any of the other parks. They do have other openings though.
