Well I recently obtained a video of the song of the south which I hadn't seen since Noah was a lad and for the life of me I really dont understand why they dont release it on dvd..:confused:

It will be released as a special 60th anniversary version late next year :)

It was banned, from what I understand, due to racial factors. Uncle Remus I believe to be more specific. I don't understand what's offensive about it but of course I'm not African American so maybe if I were I would be offended. Of course that could be just rumor & have nothing to do with why it was banned. I wonder if it will be edited in any way.

"Song of the South" has never been banned. Because of the controversy behind it, Disney decided not to make it available for public viewing.

You can't edit it. That is the basis of the story. Uncle Rhemus is the storyteller, the bard, the keeper of the knowledge. Removing him removes the story.

I found a nice website the other day that explained a lot about the movie. It's been so long since I've seen it I barely remember it.
