I know that WDW Speedway is home to the Richard Petty Experience (something I'd love to try - but not just yet......) but does anybody know whether they have 'professional' races there that we can go and watch? It might be something to do one evening if we were bored.......!!!!!! :rotfl: (BORED! Ha Ha! As if :wink: !!)

there is always daytona up the east coast a bit, if you have a car :)

We're actually staying on site so that we don't have to drive anywhere. Just wondered if they raced at WDW Speedway so we could get there on Disney Transport.

I believe that there used to be one IRL race per year at WDW Speedway. However, I think it has been discontinued.

Hardly surprising!
Although I am an avid motor racing fan and do kart racing myself, the noise from there was really irritating when someone was driving around the track just when I was trying to get some zzz`s by the pool at the GF. [I suspect it was our Kiltie at the time, so I`ll let him off :D ]

Multiply this by many more cars for a longer period of time and there would probably be loads of complaints from guests staying on the monorail loop resorts.

The Speedway also used to host the Indy 200, which was the reason it ws built in the first place. There are no events scheduled for this year...

Thanks for the replies everybody. It looks like I can cross this one off my list then. PHEW! One thing I won't have to juggle to fit in! :D

I hadn't thought about the noise level. I suppose I hadn't realised that the track was quite so close to the hotels. But then that kind of noise does carry doesn't it?

it wasnt to bad in the car park with just one car going round, wow i love that roaring racecar sound :D
