Chips,
We visited Orlando last year from 16th June for 14 nights, it rained once, a big storm, it was great! only lasted one hour, the weather was fantastic, really warm, the sun was shining every day!
Dont worry!

It's a well known fact that if you don't like the weather in Florida, hang on 5 minutes and it will change. :D
When it says it rains everyday, that may well be true...................but it usually only lasts for an hour, if that. And at 3 in the afternoon, don't ask me why.
Oh, and it's warm rain. :D You will enjoy, whatever the weather.

It could, it could. One year when our Kilted Warrior was here in June it seemed to rain every day. It's not so common to have a full day of rain, but it does happen. June, July, August...those months are good for frequent rain and strong thunder and lightning storms. It's just a regular part of Florida weather.
Regardless of how nice the day looks during those months, only the foolhardy or those enjoying being totally drenched enter the parks without rain gear. :D

It sure did! :rain:
June can be a funny month, sometimes it'll be lovely and hot with hardly and rain and others it can be overcast and wet (as i found out in '02) I would go expecting a mixed bag :) It'll still be humid and warm though and you'll certainly see plenty :sun: Afternoon storms start to become commonplace as the season moves into summer but they usually move over pretty quick. Just be sure to take some sort of rain-wear with you because the Florida rain does tend to come down in torrents :D

I think you get an afternoon thundershower, same time everyday. My science teacher once explained it to us :D
Then the humidity climbs right back up!

....are the nighttime shows usually NOT affected? Since the rain and thunderstorm don't last long?!

 Like Queenie says....it does rain at around 3 Oclock...just in time for the parade!
And it does really last about an hour. We usually spent that time in stores, or restaurants...along with everyone else! :lmao:

Hey Chips!
It does rain a bit in June, however it's nice and refreshing and it never lasts any length of time!
On a scorching day, there's nothing better than getting soaked in the rain. You dry off in no time cos the sun comes out again, scorching as ever.
Don't let the thought of rain put you off going in June.
My hubby and I visited for our first time in June 2003 and it rained on our first day. But we stayed chirpy and enjoyed our holiday!
We've booked to go back in June 2005 (just about 6 weeks away!) and the thought of that rain doesn't put us off!
Remember, your holiday is what you make it! The weather is a bonus!
After all, who needs sun when you've got Winnie the Pooh and Mickey to get your picture taken with????????

When we were there in 98 for the first 2 weeks of June it never rained once....

It does tend to rain many days in the summer. It has something to do with the air from the gulf meeting the air from the ocean over the middle of Florida. It rains hard, but not for very long.
If you like going to the water parks, head over when the rain starts. Many people will leave the water parks when the rain begins. If you time it right you can arrive just after the rain and the crowds are smaller.

I went to orlando in June (a few years ago) and I have no memory of it raining, just being sunny and hot. It might have rained once or twice but not for long. I doubt very much it'll rain every day.

Well, so far this week (and expected to continue throughout the week) the weather has been terrible. Rainy and storms all day (very unusual) the sort that keep even the most intrepid guest out of the parks (deadly lightning has a way of doing that). :sigh:
Let's hope it clears soon. Gloomy weather makes me sad. :(

OMG 'Tink, wasn't it bad yesterday morning  .
I was watching the lightining radar as I was getting ready and there were thousands of lightining hits as it moved through Disney and Downotown Orlando.

I'm so worried now about the weather. We'll only be taking the kids this one time while they're young - I hope it clears up a bit before next week! - We would have gone in May but eldest was doing his SATS :(
We're going 9-23 June - me and hubby went in July a long time ago and we had bad weather but it didn't last all day usually.
It'd be just our luck now to have bad weather for the whole 2 weeks (when we got married the sun was shining all week then it just disappeared on 'the big day') - i'll never forget that  !!
Praying for good weather for our holiday (and of course for all you guys that live out there)
We'll just get on with it rain or shine - what happens at the parks in a thunderstorm?

Nasty weather down here in the south today. We're under a tornado watch until 11 a.m. and the thunder storms are going strong. Nothing like getting woken up at 5 a.m. by a VERY loud clap of thunder.

Well.....we are going tomorrow!! Been excited for weeks now, so this is very depressing. The weather is dreadful for at least the next 10 days according to www.weather.co.uk (http://www.weather.co.uk) and a friend said they are on tornado watch!! We have been saving for 2 years, it will be our youngest daughter's 5th birthday...first the dollar has dropped dramatically now this :(

yeah sucks doesn't it..... but most of the time.. the weather forcasts are wrong... you will get some sun im sure of that... last june it rained every day we were there but only for an hour or so in the afternoon always was good in the morning and evening.. im sure it will be ok and if you get some rain then it cools the place down and helps clear the crowds

sorry - bit of a sidetrack but just thought i'd share my weather memories with you!!
went to wdw in june '91 and as i said before it rained every day but sun shone as well - we didn't care - we were just soooo shocked that we were actually there I think!!
went for our honeymoon to the keys and visited various places ending up in nassau in may '92 and the weather was GLORIOUS - not a single drop of rain (ahhhhh - wonderful!!)
went to wdw & clearwater in october '93 - VERY grey sky and EXTREMELY heavy rain on arrival (couldn't see where we were going - just kind of pointed the car in what we suspected was the right direction!!) but from then on the weather was just fine.
then kids came along and this is our first and only chance to go back - we've been waiting for this a long time for this so we'll make the very best of it!

Typically (and the weather we've had this week is far from typical) you'll get an afternoon thunderstorm which lasts an hour, two max and is done and over with. The day starts off hot and humid and gets more humid until it rains. This week has been just plain nasty. We had thunderstorms most of yesterday and they started up again at 5 a.m. this morning. It's still raining, although I haven't heard any thunder in about 20 minutes.

You know, I'm always a bit confused by one thing. Folks say, "it rains and then cools everything off." It doesn't! It rains and then believe it or not, it becomes more muggy, more humid. The pavement steams after the rain!
I've never understood why folks say (in Florida, mind) that the rain in the afternoon cools things off. For the most part, it doesn't!

Down here Tink the air does cool a bit. Still muggy but the actual temp goes down (not a whole lot mind you)

maybe it just fills that way if you get caught in the rain and you are wet for a while.
it fills cooler while wet, well it did for me....I don't know if its technically any cooler or not but definalty felt that way soaked in rain. I guess us Brits keep struggling on through the rain and lightning so we get soaked

T-storms are thunderstorms
 should have guessed  Thank you wdwgrandma:D
So does that mean that when they say T-storms........on the 5 day for cast that they will happen all day or on and off
wdwgrandma
June 2nd, 2005, 13:22
Yup! LOL They could last all day - or off and on! That being said, I've never been there when t-storms lasted all day. They were usually afternoon "events" that lasted an hour or so. On one visit we even had hail - in June!

We're on our third consecutive day of not only thunderstorms throughout the day, but totally grey skies that are heavy with dark rain clouds.
This is getting very depressing. :(
