Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels on I-Drive?

Not on I-Drive, but I've stayed at the Homewood Suites on Palm Parkway (closer to DTD) and in other places of the country.

They are quite nice. There are two separate rooms. One is a bedroom the other a living/kitchen combo.

They have breakfast buffet (mostly cold items, cereal, pastries and the like, maybe some fruit, drinks) and a "social hour" in the evening where there are alcoholic drinks (and non) and snacks (meatballs, or cheese and crackers that sort of thing).

I really liked staying at them.

Can't help much with the Sheraton World Resort as I've not ever stayed there (or even been in it).

I've stayed at the Sheraton World twice now. Once in the tower and once in the other rooms. Both are very nice but the tower is the best, so if you can get a room there, I'd go for that
I'd probably ask for a room which isn't overlooking the car park either.
This hotel is idealy positioned for Seaworld, just a short walk away and is very accessible to i-drive. There's a bus stop right outside.
All in all, nice hotel :D

I have not stayed at that particular Homewood Suites but have stayed at several others and must say that I am most impressed. The breakfast buffet has ALWAYS included some sort of hot entree (omelets, scrambled eggs, french toast, pancakes, etc.) plus some type of meat in addition to the hot and cold cereals, fruit, etc. The evening social runs only Mon-Thu. They normally have a regular beer and a lite beer (think Budweiser) and normally a red, white, and rose wine (none of which are anything to write home about).

Thanks guys. Since posing my question here, I checked out the reviews on trip advisor - great things written about Homewood Suites, but unfortunately mainly bad reviews about SWR. :(

Won't consider dates until Sept. when the kids go back to school and get their itinery for the year.

Once in the tower and once in the other rooms. Both are very nice but the tower is the best, so if you can get a room there, I'd go for that That advice was stressed by quite a few people on trip advisor. The tower seems to be the best spot.

We've stayed at the Palm Parkway Homewood Suites and several others throughout the country. They and Embassy Suites are usually our first choice when we travel. They are always the same-roomy, clean, comfortable with a Kitchen/living area and a bedroom and a basic pool and nice breakfast and happy hour buffets. The kitchen has a full refrigerator, stovetop, microwave and dishwasher. They are a Hilton Property and I always stay in Hiltons or Marriots if I can-I've never had a problem with either.

I enjoyed the Palm Parkway one. The breakfast saved quite a bit and there was always fruit out so we'd grab a piece for a snack. The evening buffets usually have one hot items and then cheese, crackers and veggies and dip. I liked the idea of having fruits and veggies available for the kids, something they tend to skip when at Disney.

Yes, that was one of the most appealing things to me - we'll be staying for 2 weeks so we'd like something a little more than just the basic room.

The reason we like the suites hotels are the same as you, especially for a longer trip. It's really nice being able to have a little more room to spread out in. Having a second TV in the living area is helpful too and you can shut the door to the bedroom if someone wants to nap.

I'd also check out Residence Inns by Marriott. They have one and two bedroom suites and penthouses. The two bedrooms, have two baths. There a couple really close to Disney. Another choice we have always been happy with.

A third option is to look into renting a villa. I've stayed in several and never had to sit through a presentation.

Hi,
We've stayed at the Homewood Suites on I Drive although it was in 2001 I can't think that they've changed that much. They were really good. The suite was extremely clean and spacious with a separate bedroom with a kingsize bed and huge TV cabinet and video. The living area also had a TV set and convertible bed. The kitchen area was also self contained with everything that you could possibly need. Bathroom and dressing area was also excellent with plenty of storage space. It stated that a continental breakfast would be served but this was enormous and enough to keep us going until lunchtime. Plenty of pastries, bagles, waffles, fruit, toast etc. There was also a managers cocktail hour in the evening where the hotel also provided small snacks. The hotel is well located near several good restaurants on the drive plus a couple of supermarkets and liquor stores where you can stock up. They have a courtesy bus to both the Disney Parks, Universal and Sea World, the only negative factor being that the last return was at about 9.45 but if we wanted to stay for the fireworks, we jumped in a taxi and it was relatively cheap.
There is also a hotel pool in the centre of the suites but it does tend to be in the shade for much of the day due to its location. The hotel staff were really friendly and the only reason that we haven't been back is that we prefer staying on site at Disney. It's an excellent property and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

It's interesting that you mentioned that Cath because I thought it looked that way from the pics in the holiday brochure. I love sitting out in the sun to relax :sunny: - will I have a problem.

Other than that, I think I'd like to book a stay at the Homewood Suites.:)

I'm thinking of booking the Homewood Suites for October 2008 through Travel City Direct can anyone add anything else to this? It's sounding like it's a great place to stay but has anyone been since? I'd be grateful if you could give me your opinions. Thanks Ali.:)
