In the past when we've visited we've just brought large bottles of soft drinks from the grocery store and used that...am I right in thinking that if we purchase these we can have unlimited refills of soft drinks??

Soft drinks, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Not milk or fruit juice.
Free refills at the resort you are staying at. Or if you're at one of the All Stars you get refills across all three of the All Star resorts.

I will add that we got them when we were at the BWV....we certainly got our money's worth! We will also be bringing with us in July! Also for the water parks...we will be bringing ours back and getting the new sticker put on it.

OK, cheeky question, we take our water park mugs with us but as last year was our first stay at a WDW resort, only bought their mugs then. When we go next year we get two free mugs from Virgin for ASMo, as there will be three of us would we be able to take one of our old ones as well?

Not that I'm condoning, or recommending, or even would have the nerve to, BUT, I saw people at the ASMo food court filling up empty McD's cups! And they weren't doing it quietly, it was loud family making quite a scene!
Some people!

We've only just heard about the refillable mug thing, cos we get two free cos we're at a Virgin Flagship hotel, but Im just curious:
1) Can you only use the mug at your hotel? (ie, not the parks etc)
2) If you're in your room, do you have to go all the way over to the food court for refills if you're thirsty?
3) Any other benefit?
Thanks! :)

Yes, you can only use it at the hotel you're staying at and yes, you have to go the food court to fill it.

However, that is breaching the rules, and if enough people got caught doing it could cause Disney to discontinue the program.

Yes, there are always those who find it necessary to take advantage, eh? (But I have seen CMs at the resorts stopping folks from using non-resort mugs. I'd die of embarrassment).
Just throwing this in, it's a bit related. At Goofy's Candy Shop (just opened) in DTD, you can purchase a Build Your Own Cup (feet, and lid come in choices of characters) for $6 (includes drink) and then get it refilled for the life of the cup, for $2 each refill. Not the same as refills for free, but still a good value.
They have those slushy mixed frozen drink things there. You know what I mean.

I was just wondering if would could use the cups we bought in 2002. They definitely were worth it. Especially in June. Also I can’t remember if they have a cold-water dispenser at the All Stars. I don’t drink carbonated drinks so I didn’t want to buy a cup and not use it since I already have two I may not be able to use.

They did have water, yes, but not sure how cold it was.....just stick some ice in it :D

Oh well, looks like we won't be getting our 2 free mugs next year after all (ASMo no longer a Virgin flagship hotel!) so might as well buy 3 new ones, I have seen people using old mugs so just thought I'd ask, but I would be sooooo embarrassed if I was told off!!

Disney have started changing the graphics or colours on the mugs each year now. They even had dates on my CBR ones.

That sounds cute! :D
Once upon a time, the refillable mugs were supposed to be for life as well. That is no longer the case. You would not beleive what I have seen people filling up at the resorts

Hello all-
We went to WDW last year and bought the sovenier refill mugs at the All Star resort. Does anyone know if we can use these same mugs on a return visit this year or do we have to buy new ones?
Thanks

No Paula, only at the Goofy Candy Shop in DTD, as far as I know.
I am going to get one for the visiting 6 year old (once he arrives and can choose his own). He'll have great fun sipping out of it and after just a couple of drinks it will have paid for itself. DTD is a great place to go in the evening, winding down from the parks, so it will get good use.

The cups at Goofy sound really cute just for a souvenier. Not sure a $2 refill sounds like any kind of bargain unless that includes "slushies" (that's what I've always called the fruity ice water drinks).
Oh, I remember when the mugs were supposed to be for life too. I think that may be why I don't buy them anymore because it just doesn't seem like as good a deal as it used to be.
I just looked up the mugs & prices on this site & the ones for WL are the same as the ones I got in '98. Have they not changed them yet?

Big Thunder, it is the slushie sort of drink. Some frozen concoctions that are swirled around in a large drum and dispensed through a spout. I don't know about actual soda. I didn't see any.

For slushies that may not be too bad, my kids can suck those things down!

So, DTD, Goofy Candy Shop, refillable slushie cups - can't wait! :rotfl: I love slushies! Especially the grown-up kind :hehe: , like pina coladas or margaritas! I don't guess I can get those at Goofy's Candy Shop,

Does anybody have any idea if they have changed the designs for the Port of Orleans Riverside mugs since last year. We bought new ones last year and will be going back in July, we were just wandering if they will be the same mugs.
