My finance and I will be honeymooning in August. We chose the Disney land/sea package.

On the cruise, I am trying to decide which excursions to choose. We will be visiting Nassau as well as Castaway Cay. I’m looking for advice from people who have already been there. What to try and what to stay away from.

Is Atlantis a good choice?

Hi sarah, and since we won't be going on our first cruise until Sept this year, I won't be of any help!
I just wanted to say HI and hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise!

Welcome to the Boards!!!

Hope we can help with your plans. Any question you have we'll try to have an answer for you. Also, make sure you post on our "Introduce Yourself" forum so you can get a proper UOG welcome  .

About your question, I recently posted some information on Atlantis:

"We did the Atlantis and Aquarium excursion and it was great! . They pick you up at the dock on an air-conditioned bus, give you a quick tour of the island, drop you off at Atlantis, break up in groups of 15 people and take you to every spot of the Aquarium.

The tour last about an hour and a half, by that time it's around 2:00pm. After that, you can either go back to the bus and go back to the ship or stay at Atlantis. The last bus back to the ship leaves at 5:30pm, they run every half hour until then."

I also have a preview of the photos I took on our last Disney Cruise here (http://www.disneyguest.com/images/boards/dclpreview/index.html). It includes some of Atlantis.

Also click on the links on my signature at the bottom. I have tons of photos of the DCL to help you get more excited about it :hyper: .

I am not sure I can recommend something except the horse carriage ride around the town square in Nassau, but definately do not spend your money on a snorkeling excursion!!! It was not good at all!! I have heard great things about Atlantis and that was our plan for our second cruise, but we got to go to Cozumel instead with the help of a little hurricane that came into our path. My personal thoughts are get off in Nassau and spend a few hours, but then get back on board and enjoy the boat! Castaway Cay is so much fun. The most beautiful place. Make sure that you find the boat photographer and get him to snap a few pictures of you and family in water, these pictures were the most beautiful ones we got.!! Most of all just have fun! The shore excursion desk on board is very helpful also

Our dolphin encounter for nassau was cancelled so we went to the Atalantis resort. (a last minute decision since we got notice for our dolphin encounter in the middle of the night)
It is something I suggest seeing however DON"T take the boat to the Atlantis they cram as many people on one boat. These people will be holding up sighns or yelling out take the boat to the atlantis we are leaving RIGHT NOW  Right now was 20 minutes of shoving people on this boat. The man grabbed my dd I had to pull her away from him because there was a gap between the boat and cement wall/grtound. Where she could have easlily fallen through. I told him off, that he can wait until I hand my daughter to my husband who is on the boat. The man was holding her by one arm only. Do what SM suggest and book it in advance with your travel agent or disney. Otherwise take a CAB to the atlantis resort not the boat.
We ended up taking a cab back from the Atlantis, a much better way.
OH also the boat drops you SEVERAL blocks away from the Atlantis resort where the cab will drop you right in front. The walk wouldn't have been so bad but we had two kids 6 and 3 and had to carry one most of the way.
Keep in mind at the atlantis you won't be able to use their pool/beach unless your an actual guest. The resort is lovely just to look around at. You will enjoy the land and sea, it was great.
I can't recommend any excursions for castaway cay since we decided to just relax on the beach. I must add that castaway cay was beautiful :)
