Well I called this afternoon and changed resorts, we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and we changed to the Beach Club. Is the beach club better than the wilderness lodge? We have not stayed at either. It will be two adults and our 3 year old daughter. Any pointers would be great! Thanks.

I won't necessarily say that as a resort it is any better. However it is in IMHO a better location. You can walk to Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Swan/Dolphin and both Disney MGM Studios and EPCOT. There is also Beaches & Cream as well as Stormalong Bay.

Your DD will appreciate the pool at BC! I agree with John, the location is fantastic it opens up a whole load of dining options for you without having to drive or take a bus!

While I really liked WL, BC is so much fun. Stormalong Bay is great for little ones, it's so lovely to be able to walk to MGM and Epcot. To my mind the bus service is better than at WL and Cape May as well as doing character breakfasts is great for an evening meal. It's not all Clam Chowder, there is a huge buffet and it's lovely acting like a kid and drawing on the tablecloth. Oh and Beaches & Cream is an absolute must.

We went to Beaches and Cream last year to eat. Oh my,the banana split :-) We also loved the way the resort looked and the pool was wonderful looking. We stayed at OKW last year and loved that one as well. We are beach people so we decided to change to BC. The WL looked beautiful be BC looks better. Hopefully we will get the room we requested. I didn;t know there were 2 types of balconies there. One for standing only and one with chairs. Hopefull we will get the bigger of the two. Has anyone done the character dinning at BC? We went to Chef Mickey's last year but now we are thinking about changing to Cape May since we are staying there.

They are so different that it is hard to compare. Wilderness Lodge was so relaxing because you really felt like you were in the middle of the woods. It is very convenient to MK. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beach club is truly the best location. It may be relaxing too but it is really in the middle of the action. We have stayed at Boardwalk so we LOVE the area. Beach Club comes up in December for us

The character breakfast is really good. Minnie didn't come round but stood near the entrance and the children queued to meet her, it wasn't too bad and my granddaughter only had to wait a couple of minutes. Chip n Dale and Pluto came round the tables and there was great interaction. It doesn't seem quite so hectic as Chef Mickey and the food is equally good.

Well then that sounds good. We went to Chef Mickey's last year and it was a mad house. We hade reservations for 9:00 and didn't get seated until about 10:00. I would hate to see how long if we didn't have reserevations. Goofy stood at the entrance and took pictures, Chip & Daleand Pluto came around, but Minnie and Mickey didn't do too much. You had to be ready because if not they were gone. Again. I think we're gonna try Cape May and see how that is.

Okay...WL is wonderful but....there's a reason it is the least expensive of the deluxe resorts. The rooms are a bit smaller at WL. They are more comparable in size to the moderates whereas the BC rooms are a bit larger. However, BC has a limited amount of balconies. Many are standing room only ( a platform with just enough room for one person to stand on). So if a balcony is important, this is something to be aware of. That said, as mentioned, the location is better at BC as well as BC has SAB which IMO is the best pool on property. It's more like a mini-waterpark with a lazy river, sand bottom pool, 2 waterslides and a great pool bar (have a frozen beachball for me :) ). Resturant wise, WL has great ones but BC not only has Cape May Cafe' which is wonderful but you also have the resturants at YC,Swan & Dolphin, and the BW all within walking distance as well as Epcot and MGM within walking distance or short boat ride. And there's now more offerings quick offerings foodwise at the gift shop at BC. There's even a new refillable mug station in there  Soooo....while I would not disclude WL, it's a great resort, if I had to choose between WL or BC... I'd pick BC.

HTH's

What do you think the odds of us getting a balcony are? We requested one of the bigger ones. Are there certain rooms (like a king and a day bed) with the larger balconies?

you changed resorts, but your daughter is too young!!

I agree that the Beach club is a better location, if your children will enjoy epcot or mgm more. With a 3 year old I would assume that there will be lots of trips to MK and they will be via Bus, bus means collapsing CARRIAGE, EVERY TIME. It is a pain in the neck, even if child is slkeeping it is a fl rule all children can not be in carriage on a bus.

Now on the other hand at the WL you will goi to MK by Boat & the captians are great, you roll strollers right on & if child is sleeping they stay sleeping. The crey even help to load carriage if dock is high, or low.

We have stayed at both & love both but think of what park you will spend most time

We go to Disney World every year and have never had a problem with her sleeping on the bus or with the stroller. We are just going to rent one this year instead of bringing our own. As far a the parks go, once again we have never had a problem. Personally I don't think my daughter is too young. Now a 6 month old yeah, but a 3 year old no. It's not like she has to take a nap. I think that she can go a few days without one. That's my 2 cents.

If you put the request in, that's really all you can do. I'd reiterate the request at check-in and check in earlier in the day if possible. Checking in earlier is really the only thing that may help your chances. Sometimes if you do that, even though they may have put you in a room without a balcony because it was already clean and ready, if they know you'd rather have the unclean room but with the balcony, they will let you wait until later in the day when it becomes ready. So definetly mention it again when you check in and as I said, if possible, check in early. Not really sure if rooms with a daybed or king bed have more balconies or not but that is how I'd go about things. Best of luck. The other thought is if you really really want the balcony, if you can switch your ressie over yet again to YC....all rooms at the YC have balconies. The resort allows you the same location basically but with darker colors in the theming...just as wonderful though (and yes I've stayed at both  ). You'd also still get SAB and the short walk/boat to Epcot and MGM.

Best of luck and pixie dust no matter what you decide!

The first year we went we had just a one-person balcony and although we didn't request it last year we had the larger one with two chairs and a round table. It was absolutely great and we had no idea we would have that. Try asking when you check in, you never know.
