Hi Barry,
We have stayed at the FW cabins the last three times we went and just love them! there is so much to do there marshmellow roasts, outdoor movies every night, horse back riding, carraige rides, petting zoo they have the beach area with chairs to lay out and soak up the sunshine -- you could keep busy there a week!
You can see a map of the campgrounds and cabins on this site
http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/fwmap.html
You can request non smoking I have children with asthma and they gaurenteed a non smoking room. You can reqest a loop and they do thier best to get you there no promises but usually not a problem and the CM are very nice and happy to assist you if they can.
We stayed in loop 2500 twice it is close to the smaller pool and the laundry you can walk to the pool and laundry from that loop. The bus stop was right across the road and very convienent transportation. It is farther from the bigger pool and you would have to take a bus to get to the store not a big deal really. The internal buses FW run fine and often.
Last time we were in loop 2100 (suggestion by the CM) much better we walked to the store, bus stop again right across the road from our loop. We asked for this loop again.
If you dont like to walk alot ask for a cabin at the front of the loop but remmeber those buses come by all the time they never bothered us but some people say they can hear them (probably more of a problem if you are in a tent).
My one suggestion rent a golf cart we love it and then you can get anywhere - right to the store the pools, and you can park right up close to the boat that takes you over to the magic kingdom very nice for us!
I have not heard any loops cabins are better, they all had a facelift several years ago but I do believe (and I could be mistaken) they are all the same.
You can call disney and request the loop and non smoking

The number to call :micball: disney is 1-407-934-7639 to request a non-smoking room and loop.
At each cabin there is an outside electric hook up for the golf cart you just plug it in when the cart is there. There are also places to charge up your cart in areas around fort wilderness. I am not sure of all of the locations but I recall one up by the front of the park in back of the main check in building, there was one by the front area where you catch the disney buses to take you to different parks. There are plug ins by the marina to charge your cart so you can leave it there if you are taking the boat :boat: over to the magic kingdom. We drove our :drive: cart everywhere we went, even to catch the buses at the front of the park just because the kids loved to ride in it. The bike barn can tell you all the charge locations when you get your cart.
Here is the information for the golf cart rentals -
reserve up to one year in advance
1 pm is the time you can check them out each day
11 am is when you need to return them
24 hour cancellation policy or you will be charged
44$ dollars a day plus tax
10% discount if you keep the cart longer than 7 days
you need a credit card to hold you rsvp but they do not charge you until you are returning them at the end of your stay.
18 or older and drivers license to rent
16 or older and drivers license to drive
Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness 1-407-824-2742
You call the bike barn directly and reserve your cart.
Make sure when you check in to get a map of fort wilderness and the activites newletter this tells you what movies are showing each night at the outside theature, when the marshmellow and hot dog roast :campfire: is (you can buy all the supplies for this at the little grocery store ask the CM they will have all the info on that) the schedule for the horse :horse: rides, carraige rides and all the activites going on in FW! Also on the wall when you come in are the maps and guide books to each of the parks we like to grab up those to see what is happening in the parks so we know the times before we get into the park. Very helpful in planning your day!
Oh one other thing if you plan on doing laundry :washing2: there make sure you have tons of quarters!! You can get change at the main building where you check in and they have a machine in the laundry building but it was out of change quite often! And I will let you know it is pricy I think a load of wash was $1.00 or $1.50 and the dryer was $2.00 I think ... I really don't remember too well.
If you really want to hear me go on and on even more about the cabins -- is that possible
here is a link all about the cabins http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/show...lderness+cabins
