hi all you uk residents what do you all think of the heatwave that is meant to be happening in the uk for july and august
well i have mixed feelings about it ...yes i love the sun and the heat but unless you live by the coast then its unbearable living in the country it gets muggy and unbearable on just a warm day.........plus hotter weather means more wasps bees and ants and i dont like either of them infact ive been known to sit in my house with all windows and doors locked so the horrible things cant get it even on the hottest of days

I absolutely cannot wait...... we seem to be starved of sunshine in this country and last summer was a disaster, didn't even exsist! :(

So personally I just can't wait to feel the sun and have BBQ's, to be able to go in the garden without getting caked in mud!

Going to seaside for tea for Fish n Chips, getting washing dry on the washing line rather then using the tumble dryer....

All of it..........CAN'T WAIT....... it's such a rare sight in the UK

:hehe: :sun: :sunny: :hehe:

I sooo agree!! I hate the cold weather as I've got bad circulation, so summer is definitely my time of year. Bring it on!!

Oh nooo... I didn't know that. I live down in Birmingham during the summer and I honestly cannot believe how much hotter it is there than in Scotland! You wouldn't think a few hundred miles could make that much difference! I don't handle heat all that well

oooo - i hadn't heard that. last year's summer weather wasn't great.

we only live about 10-15 minutes walk from the beach, or a bit further along the beach (about 10 mins drive from my house) there's a long wide green area just by the beach where everyone (and i mean EVERYONE!!) goes to fly kites, play cricket, football or rounders and have BBQ's after a day on the beach - it's great fun!!

we also just get together sometimes in the evenings with family and friends for picnics - oh i can't wait - it's really nice when we do that after school some days.

We live about 15-30 minutes drive from Loch Lomond and the National Park - a summer heatwave means leaving early and coming home late to avoid the traffic but being able to see some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK - almost on our doorstep!!! Yee-haa!

We are really lucky where we live because it is close to the city centre (Glasgow) and close to Loch Lomond. The contrast between the two is immense!

What a gorgeous day we had here today. The kids went with their grandparents to Southport and DH and I went out for lunch and then spent the day shopping in the city centre. The atmosphere was great, people were sat in the squares listening to the live music. I almost felt like I was on holiday! :D

Am just about as far south as you can get in the UK - Portsmouth - and we have our own micro climate cos of the geography (surrounded by sea cos we are an island, Portsdown Hill to the North and the Isle of Wight to the South). Usually it's drier and hotter here than the rest of the area round us.

It's a 5 minute walk to the sea from our house, so when it is hot we go for walks along the shore in the evenings - very pleasant! I hope these predictions are right - especially after last year when we had a rubbish summer here and then missed much of our holiday in Orlando cos of the Hurricanes and being confined to our hotel room!

Someone in Arizona just read it! The temperature was predicted to reach 101 today, but I think we're topping out in the high 90s! Thank you! Still have a couple of hours to go until we're certain, but I'll take any delay! Haven't reached 100 yet this season, and am hoping it will wait until June--probably will arrive by Memorial Day weekend (end of May), unfortunately.

Will trade some incessant sun and a tube of sunscreen for a few clouds in August! :hehe:
