I believe there are some "Downtown" Disney outlets with items at 75% less than main disney shop prices (still defects perhaps)
Anyone tell me where to go to find them????

Not sure of anywhere in downtown disney, but Belz and premium outlet malls both have disney warehouse stores which sell all kinds of discounted disney stuff, Belz has 2 stores, they also have a universal store and warner brothers but i cant remember which mall they are at. :)

DTD does not have outlets. The do have things on sale sometimes though.
Premium Outlets (closest to DTD) has a Character shop and a Universal shop with outlet items, but not all! Watch prices carefully.
Beltz, at the main mall area has two outlets for WDW one in each mall. Not sure about the location of the Universal ones.
Lake Buena Vista outlets has a Character Outlet. If you've been there before it's recently moved to the opposite end of the mall, so don't think it's closed.
Most things on sale in the parks (yep, there are some from time to time) will be half off. Same for the outlets, at least half off, and often more.

How far away is the Beltz mall from WDW?

Belz is at the top (North) end of I Drive and is a 20 minute drive from the DTD area I would guess at about 12-15 miles possibly a little more!

My friends, you just gave me a wicked good idea . I'm going back in August/ September with Pat & Kim . It is going to be a relaxing vacation for me, while they run the parks this time, not to say I won't be at the parks, too. I've always wanted to go to Belz, but I don't rent a car and time is limited . I think I may just hop a cab for the day unless Sister Tink would like to join me and show me some highlights of Orlando.

Be careful at Belz, we were there in March, it was like a ghost town to what it used to be and most of the discounts in the Disney store seemed to be for merchandise with dates on i.e. Christmas stuff with 2002! May be worth a look if you have a free afternoon and a car, but not worth the taxi fare!

Belz definitely seemed a ghost town - not like the shopping centres I remember at all.
Not many "bargins" although I did pick up 2 sweattops at 1/2 price.
Very dissappointed - although I found not much I liked in the disney stores in Disney itself. It took us nearly all day to find shorts for my girls at Animal Kingdom on our visit - we were desperate as Airline lost our cases and it was 95F and the kids only had their long trousers that they travelled our in! No nice embroided tshirts either.

Sister Tinker, I've just returned to this thread! :sorry:
I don't care for Beltz, myself. :nono: But now that it has been bought out by another company, perhaps it will improve. Then again, I'm not a fan of the so called outlets in the Orlando area. They aren't really outlet shops in the truest sense of the word.
If I were going to pay for a cab from DTD to shop (ugh!) I'd go to Millenia Mall. It has very nice shops, and several nice choices of places to eat. Some of the shops can be expensive (Neiman Marcus, Tiffany's, Cartier...) but there surely is enough to look at to keep you busy for a solid afternoon.
Then again, you could spend an entire afternoon in the Apple store!
If you are looking for something specific like childrens clothes or shorts, etc. the best bet might be to go directly to the largest Disney shop in DTD. There is nearly always something there to suit your needs. Also, Team Disney has a pretty good selection of clothing all under one roof.
It can be very trying, attempting to find clothing at the parks. It was when I was looking for a pair of capri length (or shorts) trousers recently. Never did find any and I would have been foolish enough to pay nearly anything at that point!
