I've done the cross stitch where the pattern is printed on the material. But I've never tried counted cross stitch. I have no idea where to start - and I'm afraid I'll mess up!

Its easy when you get going, its a case of finding the middle of the pattern and then the middle of the material then off you go. - you need a lot of paients with it.

I may try to give it a chance! But not with something as detailed and complicated as the beautiful Disney patterns.

There was one, a setting sun with the ship - the reflection is in the shape of the mouse ears, but I cant' find it online at the moment. I did find this other tremendously wonderful page of all sorts of project kits: http://www.craft-stop.com/store/productprintdetail.cfm?ProdCatID=21

i saw the castle kit at the same place at MGM
counted cross-stitch isn't difficult if you can follow a chart, just find an easy one and work up to the more detailed ones :)

Thanks to a lovely person on this site (and his DW) I now have a counted cross stitch kit of Eeyore wearing a Santa hat! It's small, so I shouldn't mess it up too much!

If I can figure it out and it looks good when I'm finished, I'll move up to a slightly larger one, and then a larger one, etc., until I'm brave enough to tackle one of those beautiful Castle ones!

I started out on the small ones....the first one I did honestly I didn't get how to do it and I did mess up.....but that was the practice one. After that I was able to do it no problem and I find it rather enjoyable.

It's not that tough, Donna, like making little 'x's' just make sure they all X the same way. If I can do it, YOU can do it1 :D :D

I started, many many years ago, with a small picture...4 x 6...and it wasn't very detailed but it was cute. Now I'm doing Japanese pictures, Angels, Wizards, and the Disney ones....I love it!

Well we will have to wait. All you need is the time, take your time and do not rush.
I think that the castle is going to be a very very trick one - well my DW must have a look at this one - seams i will be buying this one when we go in November.

I've done a lot of cross stitch before - but it was always the sort with the pattern printed on the material. I never had to figure out where to start or what to do next. Counted cross stitch is a "new" thing for me....

Just don't loose your place!!!! Use a marker to color off what you've done....believe me, it will save alot of stress and pulling out and redoing later...:lmao:

I usually make all of my own X stitch patterns from photographs but they are detailed and do take a long time to complete. Saying this....I haven't done any cross stitch at all for about 5 years and I still have a project half complete of a dog we had then :sigh:

I have a few photos of some of them if any one wants a look-just pm me.
