I've never been on a disney cruise and I was wondering what trip any of you think is best. I'm torn between the 7 night eastern and the 3 day WDW with remainder cruise. So what's your favorite? The plan is to shoot for December.

Oooch... that's a tough call. Never do the 3 night, unless you absolutely have to. it's a tease. As soon as you're on the ship and can figure out what is forward and aft, you're back off it. Personally, I love the 7 nights - plenty of time to sun and fun, while exploring other countries, but if you want the park fix, the land and sea with the 4 night cruise would be a second strong option, but be aware, you'll debark wanting to go on another one. :D
Not much help, am I?

Out of all the Disney Cruises I've done, my favorite has been the 7-Day Western, followed by the 4-Day.
As MM said, the 3-Day is way too short.
Every port on the 7-Day Western is different (Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel-Mexico and Castaway Cay). It is truly an experience.
I would choose the 4-Day before the 7-Day Eastern. The 7-Day Eastern has less stops (St. Marteen, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay) and the first two stops are very similar, but this is only my opinion based on having vacationed on the Virgin Islands in the past. You spend a lot of time at sea.
But that's Mrs. SM's and I. If you have kids, the 7-Day would be a blast since there are lots of activities for them. They would definitely want to do it again  .

Thanks! I think I'll go with the 7-western then b/c I think if I did the land/sea package I would feel like we didn't get to cruise enough.

Great choice. MM and Sorcerer have "navigated" your plans well.
BTW, the seven night western rocks!!
Saturday - debark
Sunday - Key West
Monday- Sea
Tuesday - Grand Cayman
Wednesday - Cozumel
Thursday - Sea
Friday - Castaway Cay
Saturday - lets not talk about this Saturday

 I know that's why we chose this one...well, that and our traveling companions :)
I've heard that about the short cruises, you just get to where you're having a blast and you have to leave. My DS and DIL went on a cruise (gasp...not Disney though) and they said 7 nights wasn't enough for them! but then, they came home to 3 little kids...:lmao:
I'm looking forward to our first cruise....then I'll see what all the excitement's about!

I think I'm ready for another one  . I need to spend some time in the Rainforest Room :D .
Talking about the Rainforest Room... Go to Bath & Body Works and get the Aromatheraphy Eucalyptus Body Wash. Talk about a smell that reminds you of the Disney Cruise and their Spa  .
Mmmm, I think I just revealed a bit too much  . Ah, who cares, Mrs. SM already knows the color she will use to paint my toenails if we (G-d forbid) get another hurricane and she gets bored  .

The 7 day western is the right choice. The cruise & park combos are really a waste for first timers in the park or cruisers. basically they are magnets for the system!!! You can not do enough in 3 or 4 days on the ships or in WDW. I think your 7 day west was the right choice :)
Book early & get the secret porthole rooms Great savings!!!!!! only 8 on each ship & book fast!!! :wiggle:
