I just saw Madagascar and I'm highly disapointed. Hence, I've started to study the movies that are good, and arent, and put together this new thing:

d_dreamer's Guide to How not to make an Animators Movie Not Stink
1.Have something cute and cuddly-kids automatically wanna see it, then they want a stuffed animal. Kill 2 birds with one stone

2.Have Romance or FairyTale-Notice how new movies aren't doing so hot? Notice how there's a lack of romance or Fairy Tale Element? Notice how many influencial herones are in movies lately? Shrek was the last one in a fairy tale, and that was a great sucsess

3.Try something new and inventive-I like the idea of 3D Movies... Especially in animation. I would love to see a 3D animated movie. I wish I could see more without having to resort to Shark Boy and Lava Girl

4. As Disney said, "Don't play down for children."-Besides that its really annoying to be treated like little kids. If a movie is aimed for kids specifically, it cuts down the audience by about 80%. What is good is movies that has adult stuff that little kids are too distracted by the dancing ponies to notice.

5.If there are comic reliefs, hire naturally funny actors-After seeing the latest Dreamworks pictures (Madagascar, Shark Tales), they have wannabe funny actors; actors that read from the script and try to be funny. Get more actors that are naturally funny. Example; Robin Williams in Aladdin, Eddie Murphy in countless films, Mike Meyers in Shrek.

6.Have a human element-No matter what your story's about chacters that can relate to. For example, one of my favorite movies Treasure Planet, I love because I can relate to Jim so much.

7. Have characters sing-Made a come back with Little Mermaid, can make another comeback! The Sherman Brothers are not dead!

8. Another one of Walt's rules, "Sequail are a waste of time!" With few exceptions; Toy Story 2, Lion King 2, and Shrek 2. Mostly, the made for tv movies are so boring and degrade the first movie.
