I hope I'm in the right place here!
I was thinking about collecting pennies (you're never too old, right?!) and was wondering whether there are any change machines near the pressers? We're planning on paying for most things with our room key so although we will get some change from snack carts etc I'm not sure I'll have enough.

I would suggest that you somehow get a collection of US Quarters and Pennies before you go to the parks. Each pressed penny will cost you $.51.

Some of the machines have a change machine for quarters. You'll have to collect your pennies

I'm not sure but I think the pressed pennies in US are 51c also - for anyone going there that is.

Oooh thank you! I shall have to print that off and take it with me. I don't plan to collect them all (that sounds a bit expensive!) but it would be nice to get some kind of theme going.
Will also have to tell my BF that he's not to spend any pennies or quarters anywhere at any time for any reason.

I'd try and get the pennies you have shinny :D We pressed some pennies last year with penny coins that were a bit tarnished and the press couldn't be made out all that well. But on the shinny pennies you could clearly see the press :)
Also a nice place to arrange your collection is in one of those Pressed Penny Books avaliable - I'm sure they sell them all over Disney :)

I'm just back and got a slightly obsessed with the penny collecting, nearly got a couple at the premium outlets!
Some of the penny pressing machines have a change machine next to them, but the shops will gladly exchange $2 for you, and if u ask for some pennies they'll give u the shiney ones without even asking, the pressed quarters are great to collect as well, they cost $1.25 although i found one that only charged $0.75 not sure why.
I didnt get the pressed penny folders for mine, although they have a selection of them on top of all the penny pressing machines, at first i didnt think i'd fill it, then it turned out i would've needed more than 1, each book holds 36 pennies and 6 quarters. Seen as i never got one ive sticking mine onto post cards and popping them inside my photo album along side the couple of hundred pictures i took.
If you plan to collect them at the universal parks aswell, they don't offer change machines and the arcades only give tokens so u can't get them in there either, the shops will change them, but it's a good idea to stock up whilst in the disney parks, i ended up keeping all my quarters and shiney pennies in a seperate little bag so i didnt have to rake in my purse all the time.

For my 2003 trip, I took one of those small mini M&M containers and filled it with 2 quarters and a penny, 2 quarters and a penny. Anyway you get my sequence. This made it so much easier to just take the next three coins. I ended up getting the book and almost completely filled. I only pressed one quarter, I'm cheap.
This time I will get some and place them in my new scrapbook. :) I love pressed pennies, I actually have others from all over.

Old 35mm film canisters work well, too, if you happen to have any lying around! :)

Oh very true. I was so happy that I had the container. It made it so much easier. No looking around at the bottom of my bag, which I would have been doing. :)
Iona if you are going to collect the pennies I would get yourself one of the pressed penny folders in one of the Disney Parks. We got one at MK, wanted another before we flew home but the lady at the Disney store said we could only get them in the parks, the folders are a nice way to display the pennies..
have fun :wiggle:
