At the moment it is grey and muggy as all heck, supposed to get more rain tonight. Got lots last night. But remember I'm south of Orlando by about 220 miles

Thank you! At least that means things should be lovely and green when we get there I guess... Besides, it can't rain for all of June can it?! I know it clears the parks and everything but I'm still not a big fan of rain, we get enough of that here. Having said that, Mike's right, it has been lovely here today.

According to my weather information right now it is 88 and sunny in Orlando. And if you look at any recent post by Sorceror Mickey you will see that he has the current weather in his siggie.

Thanks, I've just tracked down Sorceror Mickey's signature and followed the link to the 10-day forecast, it looks like it might be about to brighten up (the forecast is mainly for scattered T-storms) - hoozah!

Iona we wil be there at the same time as you and I must admit I am constantly monitoring the 10 day forecast on SM siggy, but having been in June a few times previous I sort of know what to expect were the weather is concerned, and if the past years are anything to go by you have no worries it'll have a down pour at around 4pm and then brighten up.

I think we are out of the really rainy weather. It rained more last week then I have seen since I moved here. Orlando got almost 10 inches of rain over a 6 day period. We are now back to our summer schedule of short afternoon storms.

You are going the same day as me IONA! Where are you flying out from and at what time, if you live in Kent i reckon we are on the same flight!
Iona
June 10th, 2005, 16:45
Are you sure? It looks from our timers as if I'm going the day after you. I'm on the 11:15 Virign flight from Gatwick on Thursday 23rd.

It is terrible rainy today. All grey and cloudy and nasty. It's the effects of the tropical storm. Expected to last all weekend. :sigh:

June 10th, 2005, 16:56
Yeah IONA we are going on the same flight! My timer is a day ahead as i am going to stay with my mate who is going as well the night before, so we are treating the 22nd as the start of the holiday! lol
But yep we are also going at 11.15 from Gatwick

Oh right - makes sense now! I guess I'll see you on the plane - have you pre-booked seats? Also, do you have your tickets yet?
I'd like to apologise to everyone else for the fact that this has nothing to do with the weather!

lol, yes i also apologise for the sub-context of this thread! We have not recieved our tickets yet, however Virgin have told us they will arrive about 10 days prior to departure! So looking forward to that!
Yeah we have pre-booked seats, cant think what they are off hand but ill have a look a bit later! how about you, have you got the tickets or pre-booked seats?

I'm in the office... although I'll have to go grab some lunch at some point :sigh: glad I wore my crocs today ;)

June 10th, 2005, 17:17
That's a relief - we haven't got our tickets either and I was beginning to consider the possibility of starting to panic.
Our pre-booked seats are towards the back, row 60 or 62 I think.

We were just there 7th-21st and the weather was good. Rain wasn't that frequent and definitely wasn't daily. Apparently the week before had been much worse.

and it is back. We had a couple of days of okay weather and now we're back to nasty rain. Flood warnings all over the place.

Thuderstorms are a normal part of the daily forecast at this time of year. Normally, and this is far from a normal year for rain in Florida, this means you can expect a brief TS almost every afternoon. Most of the rest of the day is sunny, hot and humid.
JuniorMickey
June 24th, 2005, 20:30
South Florida has been almost non-stop rain for three weeks. And more's coming. I don't know what Orlando's getting right now, but the storm we're supposed to be getting tonight into tomorrow is heading north

Raining right now! Test Track closed just before we used our fast passes. GRRR

Yes, there is no short afternoon thunderstorms, and haven't been for the better part of the month. The clouds roll in of a morning and then the rain starts and continues from early afternoon (or sometimes late morning) and rains for the duration of the day and into the evening.
Flooding on the roads, land, overflowing retention ponds, overflowing cananls, it's all starting to become more critical.
These are torrential downpours for a large part of the time, then a hard steady rain for a longer time, finally easing into a slow rain.
I am so hoping that this pattern will clear and soon. It's wicked depressing. :(

I'm getting worried now. We arrive in orlando on sunday and all i can see ahead is rain. Will it get back to a t/storm mid afternoon and sun the rest of the time or should i leave my shorts at home and pack some ponchos?
JuniorMickey
June 30th, 2005, 20:47
Even if it's raining you need your shorts. It's HOT!
OKWTink
June 30th, 2005, 20:51
Pack the ponchos, but as JuniorMickey said, it's still hot. Bring waterproof footwear. The airwalks/crocs come in just dandy for that. Not that your feet stay dry, rather that given the material of the clog, you don't have to deal with drying out your shoes.
Today it's stormed and rained hard all darn day. :sigh: ALL day.
I had to drive to Titusville and back in it and that is seriously NO fun. :(

Oh goodness Tink! That's no fun at all!!

There's supposed to be a break Friday, Saturday and Sunday before more rain. Do bring the ponchos, but bring the shorts, too...it's HOT!
